Overview

During the Taisidon MegaSafari 413 event, a new system was released that allowed for custom messaging when a character DEPARTS from death. During this event, Prime characters were able to purchase a single message, Estate Holders two and Platinum characters four.
This NPC was also found at many of the Hollow Eve Festivals in the Baby Spider area.

To get started:

  • ASK CHAEN ABOUT MEMORIZATION to learn your depart "slots". (You must pay for the slot by asking a second time before you can learn a custom depart.)
  • Then, ASK CHAEN ABOUT DEPART to see the list of options.
  • Finally, ORDER # FROM CHAEN with your choice.

Each depart "slot" will cost 15 plats; each message will cost 25 plats (40 plats total per option).

  • DEPART CUSTOM will allow you to check your current messaging options.

Interaction With Chaen

ASK CHAEN ABOUT DEATH:
Undertaker Chaen nods. "Death happens. A lucky goblin hit, falling from a cliff, divine smiting." Chaen shrugs. "Even those kissed by Murrula's Flames first must know the finality of death before rising anew."

ASK CHAEN ABOUT WORK:
Undertaker Chaen arches one eye and glances at the tools stacked in his nearby cart. "There's not much to it. Dig a hole, toss the body in. Don't see so much work these days. Seems the Immortals stopped inviting so many for tea along The Starry Road." He chuckles quietly to himself.
Undertaker Chaen leans in and whispers, "Of course, I may have learned a trick or two as a Spirit Weaver in the past. Maybe a bit of post-death showmanship when a spirit DEPARTs a failed corpse that Huldah allows from time to time. Eh?"

ASK CHAEN ABOUT MEMORIZATION:
Chaen shuffles his parchments and leans against his wagon of tools. "Before your corpse can do anything fancy, you need to learn how to invoke the boon with your dying breaths. I can teach this, for a fee, but you can only retain so much of such knowledge. As an Estate Holder, I can teach you up to two such techniques. Others may have more skill and be able to teach you more. If you find such teachers, I will certainly teach you the additional boons you could retain, but these are the limits of my own teachings."
Undertaker Chaen says, "You have been trained to retain 0 boons. I can teach you 2 more. If you wish to do so, simply ask again. Each costs 150000 Lirums."

ASK CHAEN ABOUT DEPART:
"Ah, so there we have it. Huldah's trickery intrigues you, does it?" Undertaker Chaen asks. He continues, "Very well. Should you ORDER one, I can try to teach you the particulars."

Using the Depart Message

Once you have chosen a depart message, you will receive this from Chaen:

You hand Chaen the coins; he tucks them away and leans towards you. Without a word, he touches a finger to your forehead
and pushes with surprising force! You can't help but to stagger back a few steps before recovering.
Chaen smirks. "Do you feel different?"
[Check DEPART CUSTOM for options on setting your new message!]

On doing a DEPART CUSTOM:

Syntax:
DEPART CUSTOM LIST...........See a list of depart messages you have purchased.
DEPART CUSTOM CHOOSE #.......Set message # as your chosen depart message.
DEPART CUSTOM CHOOSE CLEAR...Restores your message to defaults.

Custom depart messages are seen by both yourself and those around you when you depart. New "slots" for additional messages
can be purchased during some special events and -may- occasionally be available in the SimuCoin store.
VERY rarely, it may also be possible to find an alterer who can give you a personalized message!

A DEPART CUSTOM LIST will give you further information on use:

Listing your custom DEPART options...

Others' View: <Person>'s body suddenly combusts! Ack! There's nothing left but scattering ashes.

To use one of these, simply use DEPART CUSTOM CHOOSE #.
To return to the default messaging, use DEPART CUSTOM CHOOSE CLEAR.
