Dateline 6/19/2003: PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT!

Do you share your account with others? Does anyone else have your password? If so, we strongly recommend you go to the billing section of the Website and change your password IMMEDIATELY.

At least once a week, a DragonRealms account is stripped of its items and money, or is locked out for violating game rules, and we are told "But it wasn't me! It was my (friend, little brother, some guy who IMed me)."

Unfortunately, this excuse is not one we can accept. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS ON YOUR ACCOUNT. If your account violates game rules or policies, or if your characters are stripped of all their money and belongings because you were foolish enough to give out your password, claiming it was not you at the keyboard will NOT help!

And there are some tricks people will try to use to get your password from you. If someone claims they've lost Wizard or SGE files and want you to send them a copy -- DON'T DO IT! They could be asking for a file that contains your passwords and account information. Players can get EVERYTHING they need from our web site using their own account. If someone tells you to go to a URL, click on places in the web site, and then ask you to forward the information that appears -- DON'T DO IT!. This can be as bad as giving away your password. There is never any reason you need to give out such information.

By the same token, you should never accept software mailed to you that is "from Simutronics" or "from DragonRealms". Simutronics does not use email to send out software. Our only distribution method is via the website. If you ever need to replace software that we have written, you should go to www.DragonRealms.net and download it. *Never* accept software sent to you via email.

PLAY IT SAFE: DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD. EVER.
