Biography

Early Life

Viptorian has never spoken of his family since his initial arrival in The Crossing in 354, leaving very little is known of his childhood. All he has openly shared is that he was born on the 18th day of the 5th month of Uthmor the Giant in the year of the Golden Panther, 331 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer and that he had an early affinity for the Gor'Tog clan Tiger Clan.

In early 354 AV, Viptorian found is way to The Crossing and, being the rough and tumble young man he was, took the guidance of Everild and began his studies with Agonar, joining the Barbarian Guild. In joining the guild, Viptorian would spend a lifetime making friends with his guildmates. He forged strong bonds with Donlee, Maulem, Drexella, Phii, Rufhelous, Caraamon, Gulphunger and many, many more. As a young Barbarian Viptorian was known to skirt morality and the law a bit, spending time trying to make ends meet via conflict and preying on unsuspecting adventurers. He quickly grew out of this, however, and learned to focus on a more positive way to use his teachings.

As he began his pursued as a Barbarian, Viptorian suddenly found himself thrust into his first challenges, defending his newly adopted home Zoluren during the outbreak of the Gorbesh War. Though he was not a major factor in the defense of the province, Viptorian took pride in lending a hand in the fight against the invaders. After the Gorbesh War, Viptorian began working to become more of a member of the community. He became involved in a group that included Pureblade, Toren, Laelia, Valloa, and others. These people would come to play a very large role in his life and the development of his career.

In 359, Viptorian again found himself in the defense of Zoluren as the Sorrow War took hold in Zoluren and Therenegia primarily. Viptorian found himself fighting side by side with his band of friends, fighting to the best of his ability, proving to be more of a force than he was during the Gorbesh War. It was also during this time that Viptorian spent the first significant amount of time in Riverhaven, finding it to be a more relaxing city than he found The Crossing. Upon Sorrow's defeat at the Standing Stones (Viptorian was not present for this), Viptorian returned to The Crossing, which proved to be a very important decision.

The Treasonists' Plot Against Prince Vorclaf

At the end of the Sorrow War in 364 AV, Prince Vorclaf returned from hiding in Therengia with the assistance of the Therengian military. Upon his return, Vorclaf executed his cousin and the sitting Prince, Sirolarn, who was suspected of assassinating Vorclaf’s father, Prince Belirendrick III at the DiSilveron Ball in 360 AV. Viptorian had been at the DiSilveron Ball and, though he had not known much of the political landscape at the time of the ball, he felt that Vorclaf was some outsider who had come to usurp the throne from Sirolarn. This belief was further stoked when he was invited by his friends Toren, Laelia, and Pureblade to join them for secret talks with Molphant and Midjure. The group, along with others, discussed the need to inform the public of the “wrongs” committed by Vorclaf and, eventually, remove him from power by force. The plan was to install

Viptorian assumed the mantle of “minister of information” and began crying out the wrongs of Vorclaf from the town green of The Crossing. Over time, there were numerous conflicts with Zoluren officials, such as the Bailiff Quillak and Herald Renshuel. After an incident where Quillak roared in the town green, resulting in the death of several passersby, Viptorian stepped up his vocal harassment, specifically targeting Quillak and highlighting the injustices and abuse of force that Vorclaf’s lawmen were using to subdue the public. Viptorian even wrote a publication detailing the events and calling for action.

After numerous plotting sessions in Riverpine Circle, led by Midjure, the plan was finally executed: Viptorian and his comrades managed to sneak into Ulf'Hara Keep via a secret tunnel. The guards, however, must have been tipped off, as they were quickly upon the band of would-be assassins. After a brief and scattered chase throughout the keep, all the conspirators were eventually captured. The group then spent some time in the cells in Ulf’Hara Keep before their trial. Eventually, the group, minus Midjure, was cast into a combat pit and Prince Vorclaf decided that the fate of the conspirators would be left to the people; an unknown beast would slowly be unleashed upon the group or, the people in the audience of this trial would be allowed to craft ropes to allow the group to escape the pit and they would be free from further punishments. Much to Viptorian’s relief, the people of Zoluren saw fit to work to help them escape and all members of the cabal escaped unharmed, except for their reputations and pride.

The Move to Therengia

Following the failed attempt on Vorclaf’s life, Viptorian decided it would be best if he found another place to reside. During his time in Riverhaven during the Sorrow War, Viptorian met the Barbarian GuildLeader Mo. Mo had inspired Viptorian, with his being a Gor’Tog in a position of power and relative prestige. It was this relationship and inspiration, as well as his enjoyment of his time in Riverhaven during the war (as well as, maybe, the fact he tried to depose the Prince of Zoluren), that made Viptorian move from The Crossing to Riverhaven.

Upon his arrival in Riverhaven, Viptorian purchased his first house, a spot within the dormitory of the Riverhaven Barbarian Guild. He spent his downtime forging a relationship with Mo and learning as much as he could from him. It was at this time he also became a vocal advocate for Gor’Togs, setting out to prove that Gor’Togs were more than just big oafs with no ability for refined positions in society. He firmly resented any reference to the history of Gor’Togs as slaves of the S’kra Mur and worked to show by example that Gor’Togs belong in any role they want.

Courtship and Marriage to Deme

Not long after arriving in Riverhaven, Viptorian came across a woman who caught his eye while she was working outside the Empath Guild. Viptorian was drawn into her magnificent silver eyes and her beautiful brunette hair. He had never seen a woman quite like her. She seemed, however, to be quite down and sad. Despite his faults, Viptorian always fancied himself somewhat of a gentleman and he struck up a conversation with the woman, asking her name and if she was okay. She responded that she was Deme Milennium and indicated that she was sad. She mentioned missing her previous husband, even though it has been more than two years since they were unbonded. After some kind words and silly jokes, Viptorian managed to make Deme smile and even got her to crack a joke or two of her own. From here, their friendship grew into a deeper relationship. After less than a year, in a small ceremony outside of Leth Deri’el, the Viptorian and Deme solidified their bond in the year 366.

To say that Viptorian and Deme were a perfect match for each other would be to understate the depth of their love for each other. Viptorian learned much of the Empathic trade and helped Deme progress in her training. Similarly, Deme took an interest, as much as she could, in Viptorian’s training and advancement as a warrior. Though Deme was more dedicated to her craft than Viptorian was to his, the two never suffered from jealousy and simply enjoyed their life together. They went on adventures, picnicked, searched the world for trinkets, and served together in defense of their home whenever called upon.

Expatriation

The end of Viptorian’s service to Therengia was as much about heartbreak as it was being a time to move on. After suffering the losses of two people he revered as fantastic leaders, people, and mentors as well as the loss of his wife, Deme, pushed Viptorian to his very limit. He was hanging in by a thread and unable to take any more bad news. Then came the news that Baron Gyfford Theren was to be married to Macja, sister to the Warrior King Raenilar of the Outcast Tribes. This news pushed Viptorian over the edge. Feeling that the Baron’s engagement was a slap in the face to himself, as well as a betrayal of the late Ferdahl, Viptorian decided that he had to abandon his life in Therengia; he could no longer be witness to the events of court without speaking out of turn a final time. As such, Viptorian chose to remove himself and go as far away from Gyfford as he could imagine without leaving the mainland – he left Therengia and headed for Forfedhdar without so much as saying farewell to anyone. Upon his arrival in Forfedhdar, Viptorian quickly established himself in the Gor’Tog District in Hibarnhvidar and purchased a looming manor and forged a new life amongst his people and the Dwarves.

Time in Forfedhdar

Viptorian spent the next sixty years in relative seclusion in Forfedhdar, confining himself mostly to the Gor’Tog District in Hibarnhvidar with the occasional visit to Boar Clan. With all of his friends and family either off on distant adventures or passed away, Viptorian found himself painfully lonely. He was so lonely, in fact, that he even sold his manor in order to feel less lonely in his own home. His signature wit and charm faded and gave way to a quieter and more contemplative, if not depressed, old man. He could occasionally be heard trying to tell stories of his past to fellow patrons at the Three Turnips Tavern, but oftentimes cut his stories short as he began to mourn the man he once was and all the relationships he lost in his later years. He remained proud of his service to his Baron and Therengia, maintaining his diplomatic appearance throughout his life after service, on the off chance he could reconcile his past with Baron Gyfford and find himself in service once again.

One day, during one if his daily trips to the Three Turnips, Viptorian came across a disheveled young man by the name of Borsaren. This young man reminded Viptorian much of himself both in look and action. The two struck up conversation and Viptorian learned that Borsaren had never known the support of an adult; he grew up fending for himself in the wilds surrounding Forfedhdar and had only recently entered the city for the first time.

Viptorian took the young man under his arm and began to train him on polite society, service, and honor. Viptorian saw a chance to give Borsaren the early advantages he never had. Knowing that he had limited time left, Viptorian decided to adopt Borsaren so that the Arcinian name could continue and, hopefully, continue building on Viptorian’s legacy. In early 435, Viptorian adopted Borsaren formally, making him an Arcinian and his only heir. At this time, feeling a bit more of a sense of purpose, Viptorian decided to take Borsaren and move back to Therengia.
