Sydnee's Song

Written by Troubadour Lisae Valentyn

Performed by Troubadour Lisae Valentyn & Bard Serienna

Lisae says, "Ok"

Serienna says, "I'm ready when you are."

Lisae grins.

Lisae says, "Here's a song about you, Sydnee, and Throne City."

Lisae says, "It's not all true."

Lisae says, "but it's true enough."

Lisae winks.

Serienna's soprano joins with Lisae's soprano as she sings:

"I met a man named Sydnee once,
    A Mage with windblown hair.
The night was cold, the stars were blue,
    My dress was barely there."

Lisae winks at Serienna.

Lisae sings in a soprano voice:

"In the bowels of Throne City we met,
He was the only man on the gweth.
We hunted together the dread hatchlings,
Two laughing in the face of death."

Serienna's soprano joins with Lisae's soprano as she sings:

"Together we balmed the hatchlings silly,
Then he showed me a special place.
There was no one anywhere in sight.
He wore a secretive smile on his face."

Lisae sings in a soprano voice:

"Sydnee proclaimed, 'Welcome to Archaeology 101!
    I'm your professor, Lisae.
All night you and I will dig for loot,
As soon as I show you the way.'"

Serienna's soprano joins with Lisae's soprano as she sings:

"From his pocket he produced with much grandeur,
A handpick, a spade and brush.
He stood at the trench and started to dig,
And I joined him - there was no rush."

Lisae sings in a soprano voice:

"We dug and picked and brushed away,
It was backbreaking work, but fun!
I wished that that night would never end,
But alas, in the east came the sun."

Serienna's soprano joins with Lisae's soprano as she sings:

"We gathered our treasures up from the trench,
    Six backpacks of ancient plight!
We said our goodbyes, but I had to look back,
And Sydnee was no where in sight!"

Lisae gasps!

Serienna gasps!

Lisae sings in a soprano voice:

"My friend had disappeared without a trace!
Of footprints, there was only my pair!
Although he had vanished, I'll remember that mage...
The one with the windblown hair!r!"

Lisae exclaims, "The end!"

Lisae says, "Thanks for the inspiration, Sydnee."
