Syntax and Feature Revamp

I cleaned up the Shift article. Much of the information is duplicated (in greater detail) in the Character Manager article, and some aspects of the system have changed. (Builds are no longer sex-specific, and some new features are available in the Character Manager.)

In the end, I compromised by removing only those lists whose options vary by race (for example, eye shape and skin color). All feature lists still link to the Character Manager article so that readers can quickly see which features are shift-only. The new version is much easier to read. --Sarkranis 00:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Quest

FYI, according to Reexa the lutenist (and I suppose the two books mentioned in the article) aren't the start of the quest. No idea what really is, though.--Symphaena 17:05, 28 May 2008 (CDT)

The books (The Twist of Mindy and Jomay's Story) offer hints but are not required to start the quest. The first mandatory step is to speak to the lutenist in the Crossing Temple. --Sarkranis 00:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

On Rakash

One thing to point out is that Rakash Moonskin features are pretty much independent of their regular features now. If you want to have clear skin and a black coat, you're welcome to it (this applies to Facial Shape, Nose Shape, Eye Shape, Eye colors, Skin color and tails/distinguishing marks).

The one big change I've already made is that the body shapes under the old system are now open to either gender (with the exception of matronly - still female only).

New feature options (meaning new colors/shapes, etc..., not new feature types) have not been gathered yet. However, this process is significantly reduced under the new system, to the point of being about a possible five minutes from final approval to implementation (this doesn't count getting the colors and such approved). Once we get the system into TF and stable we'll start on that (tentatively referred to as Phase II).

Also, with the new system you will notice fluctuations in difficulty, time to complete a shift and shift block time. We are aware it has fluctuated and, although the difficulty modifications are intended, we will be looking at the timing in detail once it is released. Modifying those times are much simpler than in the past and they'll be changing, almost certainly downward.

March 2011 Update

On Play.net, someone said that the skin and fur colors are still linked. Has anyone confirmed this since March 1, 2011? --Sarkranis 00:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Shift Force

In regards to the "Watch out in The Fallen" I know we have the same steps for accepting transformations, but we also have a Shift Force verb. Is this not available in prime? --Achilles 14:44, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

> shift help
SHIFT HELP - This help screen.
SHIFT HELP GENERAL - General information on the SHIFT System. (IC)
SHIFT HELP SPECIAL - General information on the SHIFT System. (OOC)
SHIFT HELP ATTRIBUTE - Describes what body parts you are presently able to shift.
SHIFT {player} {body area} {end result} - Sends a shift link invitation to another player.
SHIFT {player} {body area} ORIGINAL - Causes the body part to return to its original form.
SHIFT {player} - If a shift link has been accepted, initiates the shift process.
SHIFT CANCEL - Prematurely ends a shift attempt.
SHIFT EVALUATE - Evaluates a shift in progress.
SHIFT FORCE - Forces a shift on another player.

Shift force is NOT available in prime, and at the time it was added to TF it was pretty much stated "we have no current plans to allow this ability to PCs in prime."--Zamara 14:52, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. My empath is having some fun with it though... Haha... --Achilles 15:06, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Just more of for the cataloging of info this is from some old empath meetings circ 2004 when GM Reexa was still lead Empath GM. They didn't entirely rule it out for future development in Prime, so there's always hope.--Zamara 15:11, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Reexa says, "Some kind of...something...is an interesting thought. Force shift in Prime is not an ability we're looking at implementing, but we could look at other ideas."
  • Illcram asks, "So before I go. Why exactly would force shifts be out of the question?"
  • Reexa says, "The consent issues that would surround force shifting, and the manpower that it would take to funnel those isn't something we can do at this point."
  • Illcram says, "I see. Okay, but remember, we are willing to face the music for unconsented non-violent attacks on our part."
  • Reexa says, "It's allowed in TF because GMs don't have to deal with being playground directors over there. And though I KNOW to the very DEPTHS of my soul that NONE of you would EVER abuse such a thing if it were allowed here."

DR 3.0 changes

With the change to shifting to remove the need for ML, I figured I'd add some info.

Based off of the lists on the main page, I can do everything except age shifts with the following:
278 Empathy, 244 Scholarship, 335 Appraisal Edit: AND GoL active. Without, I can only shift body taller or shorter
I will add an update when age becomes available. -- Nithhogr, 24.3.13

Bald, Shifting and You

Not sure where you guys want to enter this but I think it's important to not that AS OF THIS TIME Shifting hair on a BALD person (not a Tog/Skra) will basically give that person FAKE HAIR. It is NOT recommended that you try to shift a BALD person to have hair. --DR-EVIKE (talk) 20:33, 8 December 2017 (CST)
