Article Break-Up

There's a lot of good info here! Breaking up the page will resolve a lot of redlinks (and some of the info, like Cemsiat, is being duplicated on other pages). So, I'm splitting this into multiple pages. --Ogoh 21:31, 13 May 2008 (CDT)

Phase one done. More later. --Ogoh 23:06, 13 May 2008 (CDT)
Multiple pages are evil, not when its so damned short. Wouldnt it be better to redirect those other pages to one single page with all this info? --Ciaraa Niahm 00:15, 14 May 2008 (CDT)
Personally, the overall length of a particular article doesn't really matter to me. My view is that each individual page should try to have a single topic to cover, and that all information about that subject is centralized on one particular page. Once that's done, utilizing categories and links will go a long way to keep the page from feeling isolated and/or stubby (I was planning on adding a category or two tomorrow to further weave things together). But that's my thought on the matter, and why I moved stuff around. Redirects are certainly another very viable option. I leave it to you, and the rest of the group, to figure out what's ultimately best. It's a pretty simple process to switch everything back. --Ogoh 01:53, 14 May 2008 (CDT)
My feeling is that if a page is a 'stub' or a paragraph or less, having it be its own page, instead on a page of terminology or collections or some such is just making it harder for folks to just read all the information on a subject. Only once something is greater than a paragraph should it be made its own article. Of course, I am not the end all and be all on it. I also accept that being able to FIND the info can be hard. So I did a compromise. I rolled back the changes to this page, and on the other stub pages you created, put in redirects back to this page. So someone using the search feature will be pushed directly where they need to go, instead of getting a results page that isnt clear. --Ciaraa Niahm 16:46, 14 May 2008 (CDT)
If we do go this route, one big article, how far does it extend? Does "Prydaen Terminology" also extend to cover the racial titles? Should "Eu-Demrris-Tenemlor" be moved here? Honest question: Where does the article stop? To me, doing it this way breaks down the structure, and is going to compound itself the more content is added here. It's too inclusive.
Some things I immediately see:
  • "Prydaen Terminology" is currently listed in the "Titles" category.
  • "Cemsiat" is no longer listed as an NPC.
Why not just make a Prydaen subcategory, called "Prydaen Terminology," and tag all the articles? Yeah, you're right -- you wouldn't be able to read all the information at once. I'd call that a limitation of the wiki system. --Ogoh 18:19, 14 May 2008 (CDT)

Redirects and Article Break-Up Revisited

Now that we have far more information available than when this page was originally created, I'm breaking some of these terms off into their own pages or finding more appropriate places for these terms to live, ie: Faiyka, Iladza and Shariza now redirect to the pages of their associated deities, etc.
