Discussion

This probably is no longer relevant nor applicable.--NECKHOFF (talk) 01:03, 2 September 2016 (CDT)

I was surprised to read this policy, since so many people have left for years at a time and returned. The ability to do so has definitely been something people have relied on. I would like to see policy changed to give assurances that high level characters will never be deleted without the player's consent. --PRIMEQ (talk) 21:30, 3 September 2016 (CDT)

It's my understanding that purges aren't a thing, nor will they be unless something changes on the back end. Outdated and unnecessary. --ASHBOMB (talk) 02:32, 2 October 2016 (CDT)

While I am NOT in favor of purging characters, this seems like as good a place as any to discuss freeing up names. I am picturing something where after a reasonable time, say 5 years, a character name is made available. If that original character logs back in, they would reclaim the name if it is still available, or be prompted to choose a new name if it is no longer available. I was surprised to read this policy as well, as I personally have left for several periods of time over the years. It's scary, quite frankly. I don't think Simutronics would use it as written, but if it is policy, then they certainly could, and at any point in time. If it truly doesn't reflect current practice, my suggestion would be to either change it or remove it entirely. Using some sort of a phrase like "character deactivation" would certainly be more comforting to the consumer... . STEFYNX (talk) 17:34, 16 November 2016 (CST)

I am strongly in favor of removing the 90 day part of this policy. I've been in game off and on for 18+ years, sometimes away for years. If my main character had been purged, I would simply not have come back. Even freeing up long-unused names is really risky. That said, the hour-or-less character purged after 15 days of inactivity makes perfect sense. - HRODBERACHT (talk) 00:25, 18 November 2016 (CST)
