Raw html

I've turned off raw HTML so there may be errors on the pages here in some places. The map conversion is complete (Naeya rocks!) so that shouldn't be an issue. - Trel

Main Page Protection

Protected the main page. If anyone has anything they want to add or change, let us know here.--Naeya (talk) 11:04, 22 March 2007 (CDT)

Hey Naeya I'm going to gradually flesh out some of the links I added in my alchemy article, and to start I would like to add a section on Time under the World header on the main page. Do you think a single article on the time system is better, or individual articles for anlas, roisan, months, etc? Farman 16:59, 22 March 2007 (CDT)
Frankly, I think a single article for time would be better Less clicking around.--Naeya (talk) 17:05, 22 March 2007 (CDT)
Putting in some stubs and a category for Languages. Think it's front-page worthy? Farman 14:53, 24 March 2007 (CDT)
Thank you for adding statistics to the main page. --Grindinghalt 11:03, 3 April 2007 (CDT)
I added a page for Prayer Beads which can be added to the creation system menu. --Wynder 11:57, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

SUGGESTION - Expand "items" into "weapons", "armor", etc. Having just an items list is vague and useless in my opinion. Vanmar.

I went ahead and did this, I like the suggestion. If anyone disagree's we can revert and discuss --Callek 23:21, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Request for subsection under The Basics - I'd like to start a new section, something of a Beginner's Handbook. Lately I've been seeing a number of new faces in the realms (which is a good thing) and I'd like to put up a guide that will cover all the different topics a newcomer needs to know. --Gafgarias 6/13/2010

Make the handbook and we'll consider adding it. :P -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 04:08, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Archived Main Page Discussion

I archived the Main Page discussion here. Will be cleaning this up every few months and creating an archive to keep it clean here.--Naeya (talk) 17:14, 22 March 2007 (CDT)

Delete page procedure?

Hrm, I guess I still need more ranks in Wiki. I'm cleaning up a few things and some pages need deleting. Do we have a procedure for that in place? Farman 15:13, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Never mind, I found the template reference. Marking a few pages. Farman 15:14, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Viewing Problems

If anyone has problems viewing the main page for any reason, please let me know.

--Naeya (talk) 21:50, 18 June 2007 (CDT)

Subpages protected

I protected the Main Page/Panels subpages since those are critical main page elements. --Farman 16:35, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

"Statistics"

Nevermind. I just read Farman's thing.

Main Page Revamp

Going to be revamping the front page over the next few days. Stay tuned!

--Naeya (talk) 20:37, 29 November 2007 (CST)

~Voila! Main page revamp complete. Any comments are welcomed. --Naeya (talk) 02:46, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Looks very sharp; I like the change a lot. I do have a few suggested changes, though.
1) The "Wanted Pages" link is busted.
2) The "Play Dragonrealms" icon is kinda unnecessary. I mean, how would somebody get to elanthipedia.com unless they already played?
3) The "Lore" category seems to be a catchall for anything. For example, "Spells" and "History" are pretty different. I don't have a constructive solution for this at the moment, though. It might be useful to start a Town Green page to see what people view as the major categories of information here. I have my own classification system based on what I find most useful, but I would imagine that conflicts with how others might categorize things.
--Basselope 02:53, 4 December 2007 (CST)
Nicely done. Is it intended that the background is no longer grey though? Or will it be back in the darker theme you mentioned in your user page?--Aetherie 12:55, 4 December 2007 (CST)
Well, the Play DragonRealms icon stays because it is a requirement to be listed on the Player Links page at the official site. :) I fixed the Wanted pages link, thanks for pointing that out. I'll still be moving stuff around as folks seem fit, but the general layout was what I was going for. As for the category structure, you are right. I've been wanting to review the large scheme of categories here and will probably be opening it up for discussion. Just to try to get things a bit more organized now that we have so much content. Better late than never!
Aetherie, I'll be making a custom dark theme for those who want to use it. It will still be based on Monobook (the layout here) so nothing strange will happen. It will just be for those who may prefer a dark background with light text. The logo is temporary too, it was just something I made last year to more reflect the current name of the wiki, though I retained the old logo for its historical value I guess. --Naeya (talk) 13:14, 4 December 2007 (CST)
I think the new site looks great! It's good to get a new look from time to time. Thank you for all your administrative work, Naeya! --Kraelyst 19:03, 4 December 2007 (CST)
Heartily seconded, the new main page is awesome! I think the DR link should absolutely remain. Even barring the requirement as Naeya listed, there is nothing wrong with including the link. It shows support for the game and helps direct anyone to the game who might come across Elanthipedia from a google search or similar. --Farman 21:58, 4 December 2007 (CST)
BTW Basselope, please share your classifying system with us, I'm guessing it's a good one. --Farman 22:23, 4 December 2007 (CST)

request for admins

Could the "History" link please be redirect to Timelines (instead of Elanthian Timeline)? Thanks. --Basselope 22:54, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Done. --Naeya (talk) 23:15, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Could there be added support for "relatives" information for all player character pages? I tried simply adding the extra "Relatives = " line under the "{{Player character" tabs and it didn't seem to work. --Niaura 03:18, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Done. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 21:16, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Site Upgrades

Greetings Elanthipedians!

Sorry for my inactivity. RL and all have kept me rather busy. I've been puttering around the site tonight and have added a few handy little extensions. The first of which is really an great extension called Semantic MediaWiki. This (once it is integrated fully) will greatly increase the efficiency of the site and make the loading/editing time on some of our larger pages (ie Titles) a LOT faster. Once I get some things hammered out with it, I'll post a more detailed explanation. If you want, you can check out the link I gave above for information about what's in store.

The second change was to add a couple handy "personal" links up in the top right. You'll notice three new links, "my favorites," "my sandbox," and "my notes." These are quicklinks to pages within your User: area that you can... well their uses are self explanatory, and you edit them how you would any other wiki page.

Hope you guys find these things useful. If you have any questions, or need to reach me, see my user page.

--Naeya (talk) 21:18, 15 April 2008 (CDT)

Hey, what happened to the logo? --Farman 10:59, 19 May 2008 (CDT)

It's been removed due to copyright infringement that I wasn't aware of at the time I put it up. Please see the logo discussion in Town green miscellaneous.--Naeya (talk) 12:38, 21 May 2008 (CDT)

News Change

Just a note - I've moved the news to Elanthipedia:News. Go ahead and update the news there. No need to update the Elanthipedia:News Archive every time a news item is added. We can move stuff over every few months.--Naeya (talk) 19:44, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

Command List

I worked on the command list category and i was hoping it would be possible to get this linked onto the main page, [[Category:Commands]].--Yamcer 04:56, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Done. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

March 2009 Updates/Server unavailabilty

I'm not sure if this is part of the updates that were rolled in, or part of the crash/unavailability of the server, but the tables for shop items no longer display table lines.

Yes, that's a part of it. We're working to figure out why that basic style feature is unavailable.--Naeya (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I can tell you why, but not WHY. The class wikitable seems to be invalid or at least not the same as before. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 21:05, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I still don't know WHY the upgrades changed this, as the MediaWiki:Common.css wasn't changed. I put those style classes in the main.css stylesheet for Monobook skin and the tables seem to be recognize the wikitable class again. --Naeya (talk) 21:22, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

History Link

Any chance we could get the history link to link to the history category instead of to timelines? There's content which people won't see otherwise. --Maje 07:39, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

How's that?--Naeya (talk) 14:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Well there are things like the Green and Gold Ball or the Mirror Wraith Prophecy that in order to get to you'd either have to specifically look up, or click the history category at the bottom of the Timelines page. If the the various timelines were maintained better then this might not be a problem, but for for modern era stuff that would still require that you click two links, History from the main page and then Modern Timeline, just to see the information. --Maje 16:46, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Please ad Hallows eve link to main page

I am sure a lot of folks will want to look up, edit and ad to Hollow_Eve_396 the next few days, can a link to it be posted on the main page? Russell 23:30, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Can we get Chris's Mass 396 added to the main page?

Now that Chris's_Mass_396 has been added and the shops are being tracked, can we get a mention on the main page? Two merchants have already packed up and left, I want to make sure anyone interested has the chance to see the list before more leave. Aristrondr 02:13, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Advanced Search

Whenever I try to do advanced searches, I get the following error screen

Forbidden You don't have permission to access /w/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at elanthipedia.com Port 80

Is this a known problem?

Searchable Database

Not sure if this is possible within the wiki software, but a searchable database where you can select attributes would be great. Want a shield with a minimum of a certain level of protection? Couple clicks and press search. Need something that will fill the fireplace slot in your home, search. Lotta shopping sites have similar style searches. Be cool if we had that, where we could still do the editing and adding, and have the easy to use interface. Don't know much about the wiki software though, so this could be a completely worthless suggestion :) --Celeres 03:29, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

It can be done via the Semantic Search, but it's not very intuitive. It's on my list of things to improve. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:53, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
It is actually a great suggestion, within the next few weeks there is also an extension I hope to add to us here that could do something similar to that. Basically you would load a Category page and then select "attributes" (really properties) of the pages you wish to have displayed. Such as Bestiary, "Is Undead", "Has Boxes", and "Is in Zoluren".
The only downside to this setup is we (admins) have to explicitly setup what things can be drilled down with this feature, on just about everything we want to allow drilldown with. So no ETA on when it would even be useable. --Callek 04:16, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
