Skinning is a survival skill used to harvest pieces of slain creatures. The resulting treasure can be sold to fur traders for coin, or used in various creation systems.

Usage

Skinning is performed primarily via the SKIN command.

Training Strategy

You can learn skinning simply by holding an edged weapon in one hand and attempting to SKIN <creature>. If a pelt, skin or hide is obtained you may learn additional skinning as well as Mechanical Lore skill by scraping it with a hide scraper. Scraping fish caught by Fishing may also be used to learn skinning and Mechanical Lore skill.

Results from skinning may be improved by using lighter edged weapons, and by kneeling before the creature you are attempting to skin.

At 100 ranks, Rangers gain the ability to ARRANGE, vastly increasing the value of skinned pieces.

Additional Notes

Coin values of skinned pieces will vary widely. A perfectly arranged skin will have 100 parts when counted.
