>Hey Tiesse, since you seem to be the big gem Guru, would you mind giving some descriptions of the special gems from Tokens of the Heart? They only reference most of them, without giving a description.

Well, I was going to provide that information at the Alterations 101 session on Thursday, but I suppose I can give it out now since I know people are using them for alterations.

For all of these gems, the main stipulation for their use in items is that they are always faceted, never cabochon.

VIOLET'S HEART AMETHYST -- A dark purple stone carefully cut so light is trapped within to reveal an indigo, almost crimson center. This jewel is found almost exclusively in shallow mines and is named after the mountain flowers that grow along the rocky terrain.

VOLCANO'S HEART CITRINE -- A dark orange stone carefully cut so light is trapped within to reveal a pale yellow, almost white center. This jewel can only be found in mines with close proximity to volcanoes and is named for its resemblance to white hot lava.

FOREST'S HEART GARNET -- A dark green stone carefully cut so light is trapped within to reveal an intense vermilion center. This jewel can be found in mines located near heavily forested areas and is named for its mix of hues reminiscent of unspoiled wilderness.

SUMMER'S HEART SAPPHIRE -- A dark blue stone carefully cut so light is trapped within to reveal a rosy pink center. This jewel has only ever been located in tropical environments, thus it is named for the sunny, fresh atmosphere in which it's mined.

LION'S HEART TOPAZ -- A dark brown stone carefully cut so light is trapped within to reveal a bright golden center. This jewel is mined from the Gemfire Mountains near Hvaral and is named for Chadatru's avatar, meant to represent the stoic pride of Therengia.

There you go!
