There have been no changes to USOL that will allow it to have cast options as of yet, so it's likely that necro AOEs will still be an exception to the expanded AOE spells. This means that casting it at prime gathering spots when you are already aware that it cannot be finely targetted could end up getting you in trouble. The option to not use the spell in those circumstances will always be available.
