Partial log of the meeting with the Ferdhal last night · on 2/19/2010 9:04:52 AM 3372
I edited out most of the peanut gallery comments. As you can see I did not stay through the end of the event.

Aemmin says, "People of Ilithi, I have given you freedom. It is apparent, however, that is a gift that the populace cannot handle. As such, it shall be removed, for the sake of saving our country."

Aemmin says, "The Sentinels now have authority to charge and arrest those being disruptive in speaking out upon the gwethdesuans, regardless of which side of the argument is being taken."

Aemmin says, "Captain Cierzen, bring the Sentinels in."

Cierzen fidgets nervously.

Cierzen nods.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Galnoth whispers, "if gone militant then Apostles might be a welcome addition"

Cierzen says, "Presenting Sentinels Janeros, Kureta, Esharis, and Neharon."

Katralyn blinks.

Aemmin nods.

Bluewither asks, "Elotheans?"

Aemmin says, "Step forward, Sentinels."

With a graceful movement of her hands, Kureta lowers her head and sinks into a formal curtsy before Aemmin.

Neharon adjusts his grip on a white ironwood-hafted mace wrapped in fine grey leather.

Tucktayuctuc yells, "Bring back the OUTCASTS!"

Aemmin says, "As of tonight, the Watchmen of Shard are reforming."

Craxor yells, "as of tonight Ilithi has become our worst nightmare"

Aemmin says, "These Sentinels shall be tasked with guarding the gates from invaders, criminals, and in enforcing any necessary measures to ensure safety to the city."

Wyndz sighs.

Joshuan says, "Shade, let her speak."

Aemmin says, "In addition, Sentinel Neharon shall act as an additional point of contact for the Inquisition."

Aemmin says, "Captain Cierzen will be placed in direct charge of the militia."

Aemmin says, "The gates will again be closing at night, save for the east, which will remain open as it always has."

Aemmin says, "Captain Cierzen, bring General Leucius here."

Cierzen nods.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen went through a pair of carved ash doors.

You get an engraved silver flask from inside your scout's cloak.

drink flask

The flask is empty!

Aemmin gives Leucius a slight nod.

Aemmin places her right hand over her General's badge and it flares with a bright blue light. Removing her hand, the blue light still clinging to it, she places her palm upon Leucius's shoulder. Instantly, he is surrounded by a bright flare of light that quickly fades, revealing a new Court insignia on Leucius's chest.

Aemmin says, "All other Court positions will be up for review. Leucius will be working with Sentinel Kureta in this task until Amaldriel returns or we have a replacement for her."

Leucius nods.

Aemmin gives Leucius a slight nod.

Leucius says, "I am honored and will serve as best of my ability."

Leucius bows.

Aemmin smiles at Leucius.

Aemmin says, "There is one condition."

Leucius says, "Uh oh."

Leucius smiles.

Leucius asks, "Should I be running?"

Aemmin says, "You should not."

Leucius nods.

Leucius says, "Good, I'd never get anywhere anyway."

Leucius smiles.

Aemmin says, "As of now, all Ambassador positions are permanently abolished. When necessary, we will instead task a single person with the responsibility of carrying out these duties, when needed."

Leucius ponders.

Aemmin says, "I will allow you to choose who, but bear in mind that the responsibility of any actions taken will fall upon your shoulders."

Leucius says, "Interesting."

Leucius says, "And understood."

Leucius nods.

Leucius smiles.

Aemmin says, "We have in the past extended a hand of friendship, sent our people to fight on foreign lands, for foreign people. The response we have received is a cold one."

Aemmin says, "And thus, we are withdrawing our hand."

Aemmin says, "In four days from now, the northern border of Ilithi will be closed."

Leucius nods.

Aemmin turns back to the audience, her eyes glancing from face to face.

Aemmin says, "Remember, my people. These are tumultuous times, and we must remain strong and vigilent."

Aemmin says, "Things always seem the darkest before the dawn."

Aemmin says, "A new day will rise, the light will return to our world and to our fair city, to our country."

Exiar asks, "Isn't that what the emerald knights said?"

Exiar chuckles.

Aemmin smiles slightly, though her eyes remain somewhat cold.

Aemmin says, "I will now take petitioners. Leucius, Amaldriel, you may go. Cierzen, take down names."

Cierzen nods to Aemmin. Leucius nods to Cierzen. With a graceful movement of her hands, Amaldriel lowers her head and sinks into a formal curtsy before Aemmin.

Leucius bows to Aemmin.

Lord General Leucius went through a pair of carved ash doors. Sentinel Captain Cierzen went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Ienna says, "I have a two part question. I'll cut right to the point."

Ienna smiles.

Ienna asks, "First one, will the closing of the northern border affect trade routes?"

Aemmin says, "Very well."

Ienna glances at Neharon.

Ienna smiles.

Aemmin says, "It likely will, yes. You are free to use the routes within Shard, however."

Ienna says, "Alright. Then my second question will wait till after the lands are at peace and the borders are open."

Ienna says, "Thank you very much for your attention."

Ienna smiles.

Aemmin nods to Ienna.

Ienna says, "I will pass the word to my guild."

Aemmin says, "Very well."

Cierzen says, "Presenting Craxor Manadragoran."

Craxor bows to Aemmin.

Aemmin gives Craxor a slight nod.

You say, "This is going to make my monthly trips to boar clan a pain."

Craxor says, "M'lady."

Craxor says, "I come to you with a simple concern...and that of non magic users in the defense of our fair city and province."

Aemmin says, "Speak your concerns."

Craxor says, "We seem to be over looked in the greater scheme of things but at the front lines."

Craxor says, "I was thinking perhaps something could be done to remedy that."

Craxor says, "The term "meat shield" gets tired."

Utamael quietly asks, "Is Craxor angling for a position in the Court?"

Utamael blinks.

Raudun asks, "I don't know?"

Aemmin says, "That is an extremely vague request. So much so, that I am not entirely certain what it is you are asking for."

Francelia says, "I think Craxor is just being Craxor."

Exiar says, "I hope so."

Craxor says, "That perhaps you would consider a post of man-at-arms to the court."

Craxor says, "Or a court tactician."

Aemmin says, "Those are militia titles, Craxor."

Craxor says, "We do specialize in combat."

Exiar says, "Court tactitian would be a court position by definition...."

Exiar says, "Now... it may not exist..."

Craxor says, "I have not been fully able to fullfil my vow to you as a soldier since the handmaiden stripped me of my rank and had me declared and enemy of the province."

Aemmin says, "I am not going to give you a title, Craxor. You have, in the past, proven yourself unable to handle one."

Aemmin says, "That is all."

Aemmin nods to Cierzen.

Craxor chortles softly at some secret joke. Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors. You stand back up. You pace back and forth. You sit down.

Galnoth pats you on the back.

Cierzen says, "Presenting Valynn and Erieck from Therengia."

Valynn bows to Aemmin.

Aemmin gives a slight nod.

Erieck bows to Aemmin.

Valynn says, "I hope Your Grace is well and I bring greetings from Therengia."

Aemmin gives a slight nod.

Aemmin says, "Go on."

Valynn says, "Your grace, I have elected to resign my position as Therengian Ambassador to Ilithi to take care of family matters in Therengia."

Valynn says, "I wish to introduce you to Baron Gyfford's choice of replacement, Sir Erieck Gottsby."

Valynn motions to Erieck.

Aemmin says, "Your presence will be missed here, Valynn."

Valynn smiles at Aemmin.

Erieck bows to Aemmin.

Valynn says, "You are kind, Your Grace. I will miss being Ambassador to this province."

Valynn says, "Family matters dictate my return."

Valynn says, "Erieck will be a fine replacement should you accept him."

Valynn smiles at Erieck.

Erieck says, "Your Grace, it is a pleasure to be in Ilithi...I was Valynn's Historian during her tenure and am familiar with the region."

Aemmin says, "I see. Go on."

Erieck says, "I enjoy Ilithi a great deal and I do hope you would find my place as Ambassador acceptable."

Galnoth whispers, "To see what she does with this ambassador will be nice, she just said she wasn't having ambassadors"

Galnoth tugs at the tip of his beard distractedly.

Aemmin says, "Hold a moment, please."

Aemmin says, "Cierzen, please have Craxor arrested and thrown in the dungeon. This is not the time or place for him to send me thoughts via albredine ring."

Cierzen winces.

Cierzen nods.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Cierzen says, "It's done."

Aemmin says, "Very good."

Aemmin says, "Now..."

Aemmin turns back to Erieck and Valynn.

Aemmin says, "At this time, I have no inclination to accept an Ambassador from Therengia."

Aemmin says, "I am sure you understand why."

Erieck asks, "Your Grace...I would respectfully ask..why you would turn aside an open emissary from Therengia..despite the need for defending the borders...against the undead?"

Aemmin says, "I shall put it quite simply. As long as there is an Outcast married to the Baron of Therengia, there is no need to keep up relations between the two countries."

Erieck nods to Aemmin.

Erieck says, "Of course you Grace..that is quite understandable.."

Aemmin says, "You will not be turned away from our country, but you will not be doing official Ambassador business in Ilithi either."

Galnoth whispers, "Like that wasn't seen coming.."

Galnoth shakes his head.

Erieck says, "I shall return to Theren with your words.."

Aemmin says, "Any merits you bring to us will be your own, and not those of Theren. And I daresay that you have large shoes to fill."

Aemmin glances at Valynn.

Valynn smiles at Aemmin. Cierzen holds hands with Valynn.

Erieck says, "I do indeed your Grace..and if I am ever allowed a chance, I shall attempt to.."

Erieck ponders.

Exiar chuckles.

Valynn quietly says, "You are too kind."

Aemmin says, "I am aware of that."

Erieck says, "Perhaps not fill them..but make my own path.."

Aemmin gives Valynn a slight nod.

Valynn smiles at Erieck. Aemmin nods to Cierzen.

Erieck says, "I shall remain available if you Grace requires of me."

Erieck bows to Aemmin.

Cierzen holds hands with Erieck.

Valynn asks, "Before we leave the dais, may I present you with a small gift?"

Valynn smiles at Aemmin.

Aemmin says, "Give it to Cierzen, please."

Valynn nods to Aemmin.

Valynn gets a fragrant night-blooming lily from inside her traveler's pack. Valynn offers Cierzen a fragrant night-blooming lily. Cierzen accepts Valynn's night-blooming lily.

Valynn says, "May you be as this lily...."

Aemmin smiles at Valynn.

Valynn smiles at Aemmin.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Cierzen says, "Presenting Leifus, of the Inquisition."

Aemmin nods to Leifus.

Leifus nods.

Leifus says, "Ferdahl. I come with a simple request."

Aemmin says, "State your request."

Aemmin gives a slight nod.

Leifus says, "As you have stated today, there are those within the province who have aided Necromancers. Too many, in my opinion."

Aemmin says, "That is not what I said, but continue."

Leifus says, "I've heard much discussion of how Ilithi will handle its own. But few concrete steps."

Leifus asks, "What will be done about this?"

Aemmin says, "Your question is an extremely vague one, and I am not certain what the answer you are looking for is."

Leifus asks, "Perhaps a suggestion then. I'm sure your Guard is aware of the individuals guilty of these crimes. Why are they not imprisoned?"

Aemmin says, "You assume much about the Sentinels and also about who is and is not imprisoned."

Aemmin says, "Continue, if you have more to say."

Sothavi says to Leifus, "Rest assured, while our methods may be gentler in emphasis, we are no less fervent than Khurek." Leifus asks, "Respectfully, I believe your methods have proven, what I would like to refer to as an abysmal failure. What practical steps will be carried forth from here on?"

Aemmin asks, "If you want, you can find out right now exactly how effective our methods are. Do you wish a demonstration?"

Raudun says, "Respectfully.... just because you start a statement with the word does not make a disrespectful statement not disrespectful."

Sothavi says to Leifus, "You have surely heard Her Grace's announcement regarding the Watchmen and the participation of the citizens. There are concrete steps being taken."

Aemmin raises an eyebrow.

Cierzen fidgets nervously.

Leifus says, "You'd waste your time with me, rather than those speaking blasphemy? I must take that to be my answer then."

Leifus bows.
Aemmin nods to Cierzen.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Aemmin says to Sothavi, "Watch that one closely."

Celitha curtsies to Aemmin.

Cierzen says, "Presenting Celitha Wirenfala."

Aemmin gives Celitha a slight nod.

Celitha says, "Your Grace I had a few concerns , one I know this may not be the time with the undead threat and such."

Aemmin says, "Speak your concerns, then."

Celitha asks, "However if we are to close the borders perhaps we could add an archery range, a jousting arena and a fishing shop and jewelry store?"

Celitha asks, "Also with the concern of necromancy perhaps discussing security with your allies in Ilithi would be prudent, your Grace?"

Sothavi sternly says to Celitha, "You are right, dear, this is certainly not the time to discuss shops."

Celitha asks, "I am also concerned to what extent it will be locked down, when Lyras and her generals post a threat , will we be allowed to ask for help or help others?"

Celitha says, "Pose."

Celitha says, "Provincially I mean."

Aemmin says, "People of Shard."

Aemmin says, "My word here is absolute."

Aemmin says, "Remember that."

Aemmin glances toward the audience.

Celitha asks, "Oh someone wishes to know if the Coalition is still supported?"

Celitha asks, "Will we be allowed to still charge the Temple ?"

Aemmin says, "You may do what you wish, within the confines of the law."

Aemmin says, "Certainly, aiding in charging the Crossing Temple is beneficial."

Celitha asks, "Also I have served Ilithi and the Tower for many years, it has been my honor, if I may be allowed to continue to do so , your Grace, please, if it be your wish?"

Aemmin asks, "Did you not listen to what I said?"

Celitha nods.

Aemmin says, "I laid out what is to happen regarding the Court already."

Aemmin says, "Cierzen."

Aemmin nods to Cierzen.

Celitha says, "I have nothing further, your Grace."

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Cierzen says, "Athanasius, you're next."

You slip quietly out of the room. [The Great Tower, Narrow Hall] Floors of dark walnut gleam in the light cast by a row of standing lamps. The plastered walls, painted a bright scarlet, are decorated by tightly spiraled white patterns that maze across their curved surfaces. The violet furnishings of the antechamber are visible through a curtained arch, while across from it stands a pair of large teak doors. Also here: Sentinel Captain Cierzen. Obvious exits: southeast, southwest.

You join Cierzen's group.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group just went southeast. [The Great Tower, Narrow Hall] Off to one side stands a spidery table, its cloth dyed in a rainbow of colors. A long mural painted on creamy ricepaper stretches above, the black shapes splashed upon it looking alien and vaguely menacing in the muted lamplight. Closer inspection, however, reveals them to be nothing more intimidating than a highly stylized landscape of the Dragon's Spine. You also see a silver arch. Also here: Sentinel Captain Cierzen. Obvious exits: southwest, northwest.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group just went southwest. [The Great Tower, Narrow Hall] The brilliant patterned scarlet of the walls is broken here by a stretch of black silk curtains that veil the outline of an open archway. Beside them, a bright copperwood stand houses a large book which is laid open to reveal a pair of blank pages. Long paintings span the hallway, done in stark greys and blacks on creamy white paper. You also see a pair of carved ash doors. Also here: Sentinel Captain Cierzen, Sophister Asurun. Obvious exits: northeast, northwest.

A servant nods deferentially as you follow Cierzen out of the room. Aemmin nods to you.

You say, "Your grace, thank you for this audience, if it would please you I would have the vice speaker of my order Galnoth brought in as well."

Aemmin says, "Very well."

Aemmin gives Cierzen a slight nod.

Cierzen stops you from following him.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Cierzen says, "Galnoth seems to have dozed off in his seat."

You say, "I am here on behalf of the speaker of my order, lance, to request your blessing to have order meetings in shard for those who are of our order and frequent this area or live here."

Aemmin says, "I see."

You say, "My appologies Your Grace, I believe I mistook his intentions."

Aemmin says, "This may be a bit difficult with the border closed, you do realize."

You say, "I understand, however, it would benefit all of us if those of the order who shelter behind these wall had an opportunity to meet and plan the destruction of lyras's minions."

You say, "I have a brief description of our order prepared but if it will not affect your decision I will not waste your time."

You say, "We also beseech you to consider reopening the order house for all orders who meet within your walls."

Aemmin says, "I have heard of your Order. You may hold meetings in Shard as you wish. As for an Order House, that is something that will have to wait."

You say, "Thank you your grace, our meetings will be hindered until you see fit to open the boarders but we humbly respect your judgement as to what is best."

Aemmin gives a slight nod. You say, "Thank you for your time, I have nothing further to request of you other than your continuted vigilance as Ferdhal." You join Cierzen's group.

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors. You slip into a row and take your seat. [Hall of Audiences, Seating Area] Long benches of white marble gleam in the daylight that streams though the glass panels of the lotus-shaped skylight set in the domed ceiling. The benches coil most of the way around this large, circular chamber, forming rows that descend gradually, ending a short distance away from the raised dais upon which the Ferdahl holds her audiences. The soft blue-green color of the chamber lends the area a further feeling of tranquility. You also see a morose Shadow Servant.

Utamael quietly says to you, "Very well spoken."

Utamael nods.

You whisper to Galnoth, "I couldn't copy paste... what a night mare"

Raudun praises you.

You blush slightly, the tips of your ears flushing with warmth.

Galnoth whispers, "I think you did great!"

You quietly ask, "Anyone have a drink?"

Galnoth whispers, "I laughed when he said I fell asleep"

Krahas says, "Just the one, I'm afraid."

You say, "I inteded to ask what kind of boarder was being errected.... but I got flusterd."

Cierzen says, "Presenting Sophister Asurun."

Asurun bows to Aemmin.

Aemmin nods to Asurun.

Asurun says, "Greeting Ferdahl."

Aemmin says, "Greetings."

Asurun says, "I have a question, or an observation, maybe a request."

Asurun ponders.

Aemmin says, "Speak your thoughts."

Asurun says, "I have taken notice that while some Necromancers have avoided the walls of Shard, they have taken to using, the Horse clan, Fayrins, and the gem seller tent by Coriks for their means of avoiding Justice."

Asurun says, "I was wondering if there isn't anything we can do to put a stop to this, considering all of Ilithi is needed to stop the Necromancer plague."

Aemmin says, "Cierzen, look into this matter."

Cierzen mutters to himself.

Asurun grins at Cierzen.

Cierzen says, "All right."

Asurun says, "That is all."

Asurun bows to Aemmin.

Cierzen says to Asurun, "Thanks a lot."

Aemmin gives Cierzen a slight nod.

Asurun says to Cierzen, "Just doing my duty."

Sentinel Captain Cierzen's group went through a pair of carved ash doors.

Cierzen says, "Presenting Meanne."

Aemmin says, "Hm."

Meanne smiles slightly as she dips into a graceful bow. Upon rising, she cants her head to one side, looking at the Ferdahl assessingly with her own dark, emerald eyes. Her voice is firmly spoken and sincere when she speaks, "My Ferdahl. It is a pleasure to see you again."

Meanne says, "I am not your favorite citizen, I am sure, and it cannot be helped. But luckily for all witnesses, I am not here to beg for a title or to introduce myself."

Aemmin says, "Speak your mind."

(Meanne turns her head slightly, eyeing the audience behind her, hoping, arrogantly, that the audience might in some way support her. Taking a deep breath, she returns her attentions to Aemmin.)

Meanne grits her teeth.

Meanne says, "Ilithi takes its strength from the diversity of its people, the richness of its culture, and the freedom of our scholarly minds. To restrict that is to cripple us."

(Meanne pauses, getting a look on her face as if she has swallowed a particularly disgusting frog. Then, she does something very peculiar... she sinks to her knees.)

Meanne kneels down.

Meanne says, "My lady, Shard is surrounded on all ends by its enemies, and I need not draw you a map for you to understand what I mean. For the safety of us all, I implore you to reconsider these decisions announced here tonight, and begging is not something I do often, or easily."

(Meanne grits her teeth, flinchingly aware of the whispers surrounding her.)

Meanne says, "I understand how my words may be received, and as a result I firmly expect to share the dungeon with Craxor -- which is something akin to my worst nightmare. But despite the consequences, this must be said."

(Meanne finishes by bowing her head, her shoulders sagging slightly.)

You whisper to Galnoth, "i'm too tired for any more of this. "

Aemmin says, "Your request is denied. Cierzen, if you will."

Cierzen says, "C'mon."

Galnoth whispers, "Yeah.. I think I'll head out with you"

You slip out of your seat.
