OOC: Khurek and Sinstra ordered Ventuul to grab faithful to destroy the necromancer den/nest. I had wandered by after and got scanned by Khurek and Sinstra. Frowned, glanced at him and the gate and left. After I left they said I was suspicious even though I had favors, but they have lots of tricks or something along those lines. So The inquisition gathered to destroy the crypt in Dirge- i had to go away about then, so i followed up, and had to leave right when they were about to attack, so I snuck off and hid, figured I'd join up later. Logged back in an hour later, met a cleric from before at their guild who basically sent me back to where I just came from, so I hung around the hill til they came out. and followed them back to town. I was actually expecting something to be said... Edited down.

It has been 397 years, 0 days since the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer. It is the 1st month of Akroeg the Ram in the year of the Emerald Dolphin. It is currently winter and it is dawn. You're fairly certain it's about the Anlas of Hodierna's Blessing.

Oddly the date is soooo appropriate... but I didn't notice til later.

[The Crossing, Immortals' Approach] This stretch of road is wide and paved with smooth stone blocks. Cherry trees in carved stone planters border the sweeping approach while softening the exterior walls surrounding the Temple grounds. Flames brightly visible in the dark flare from the tops of three tall towers standing guard over the orb of the Main Temple. Fragile walkways lash the towers to each other high above the orb. You also see a glowing iron fragment, a white-tailed leopard that is sitting, a crate filled with gifts, the Longbow Bridge, the locked almsbox and a high granite wall surrounding the temple grounds. Also here: Adreara who is surrounded by a hazy fog white ethereal shield, Gardener Diliben, Linessa, Deadly Silvwyn, Kaedan, Court Assistant Celitha, Temple Inquisitress Sinstra, Inquisitor Cerval, Temple Guard Ventuul, Temple Inquisitor Khurek. Obvious paths: northeast, northwest.

Cerval says, "We must remain vigilant."

Sinstra says, "Speaking of which..."

Sinstra asks you, "I do not believe I saw you there during the attack. Yet you show up before, and again after. Are you in league with them?"

You shake your head at Sinstra.

You say, "I thought I heard something."

You say, "Ran off."

You say, "And you had proceeded."

You say, "I found one of your group at the clerics."

Silvwyn asks, "Ran off?"

You say, "He said to check the hill."

You say, "I didn't hear anything."

Sinstra says to you, "I see."

Khurek says to Sinstra, "Let me know if you take him to the dungeon."

Khurek just went through a lacquered mahogany gate.

You grin.

You shift your weight.

Sinstra says to you, "It is very suspicious."

You say, "Well could've sworn the corpses were whispering."

You say, "But probably my imagination."

(Choruses of subdued whispers briefly fill the area and quickly subside as if the lifeless corpses were muttering softly amongst themselves.) - on top of gibbet hill

Sinstra asks, "Whispering corpses?"

You say, "Maybe the wind through their skulls.."

You say, "The hill is gaudily strange."

Sinstra asks you, "You went onto the hill itself?"

You nod.

Sinstra says, "Why? We were at the base of it."

You say, "Bella."

You say, "Bella something.."

You say, "Said you went in a slab."

You ponder.

Sinstra asks you, "You are not convincing me that we should not throw you into the dungeon right now. Did you warn them?"

You say, "I did not warn anyone."

You say, "Nor would I."

Sinstra says to you, "Your actions are very suspicious."

You say to Sinstra, "I get that."

You say, "People tend to think I'm a bit touched in the head."

Sinstra says to you, "We will be watching you."

You say, "I'm really suprised they let me wander about."

You nod to Sinstra.

You say, "If you insist."

You shrug.

AND.........

Adreara asks you, "Are you not the one who defiled Asketi's altar with dirt?"

Adreara squints at you

You nod to Adreara.

Adreara gasps!

You say, "That's between me and her."

Sinstra asks, "He did what?"

Ventuul asks, "This is so?"

Adreara whispers, "OOC: lol had to bring it up!"

You fold your arms across your chest.

You take a sip of the coffee.

Adreara says, "He tried to leave dirt on Asketi's altar in her Temple."

You get a crystalline adder fang from inside your Adan'f skull.

Sinstra scowls.

Sinstra asks you, "Why would you do this?"

You say to Adreara, "Succeed."

Adreara says to you, "Yes and brought the eyes of Asketi to you as well."

You lick the fang and discover that it's rather tasteless.

You ask, "Which time?"

You say, "Once she was pety."

Ventuul asks you, "Indeed. Why would one dirty such a holy place?"

You say, "And sent a snake after me.."

You say, "For boasting about destroying her avatar."

Adreara gazes at you.

Diliben asks, "Perhaps he mistook the altar as a flower pot?"

You say, "I called her weak, and was unimpressed with her lack of Rides."

Sinstra says, "I have heard enough."

Adreara says, "Well her rides are missed."

You say, "Another for marking me."

(Wait for it...)

You put your fang in your Adan'f skull.

You slide the jaw of the Adan'f skull shut.

(wait for it...)

A large flock of people rushes into the area! Though some are plainly robed, others are wearing thick armor. As their collective chants of rage fill the air, someone screeches, "There he is! Don't let him get away!" The crowd quickly converges on you, overpowers you and throws you to the ground as dozens of iron-gripped hands pin down your arms and legs.

From the midst of the grumbling crowd, a priest of Aldauth steps forward. He proclaims, "This man is far too corrupt for a simple purging to right his sins. We must take him to the Temple to be fully cleansed!" The crowd quickly binds your arms and legs, and one of them clobbers you on the head. The world goes black as you are dragged to the Crossing Temple. >look You are not sure, but it looks like the blackness you get when you are unconscious. > You are brought through a confusing series of rooms, hallways and passages, quickly losing track of where you're going. Eventually you find yourself... [Crossing High Temple, Red Buzzard Dungeon] Dust shrouds every surface in this expansive chamber with steps descending from a double-latch arched door. The precinct appears quite different than a conventional dungeon, evidently not intended to confine common prisoners. Instead of barred cells, manacles and fetters, there are dozens of imposing pylons arrayed in no apparent pattern. The obsidian religious constructs have deep spiral grooves carved onto their sides, each exuding a reddish radiance that hangs heavily in the air like a miasma. You also see a sunken-relief pedestal. Obvious exits: none.

Two priests set you in front of one of the pylons and placed into a kneeling position. Even though there are no ropes binding you, for some reason you are completely unable to move. You realize with muted horror that it's the power of Aldauth himself that's holding you in place.

You say, "Of course.."

A priest in elaborate robes walks up to you. "Powerhaus, you have been sentenced to have your wretched soul cleansed of its evil. You will remain here until such time as Aldauth sees fit to release you." With that, the priest walks away again.

Nightmarish visions drill themselves into your head, one after the other, likely from the miasma swirling through the room. You feel wrathful eyes on you, condemning you fully for your actions. The vision ends with a very real image of your corpse being picked apart by a flock of vultures.

You say, "If you must."

The miasma becomes oppressively thick, the red swirls churning furiously.

Elsewhere's- Adreara says to Sinstra, "Too bad a Priestess of Asketi could not whip him soundly." Sinstra says, "The Inquisitor will deal with him." Ventuul says to Sinstra, "I imagine the Inquisitor and yourself will have your hands full with that Warrior Mage." Ventuul says to Sinstra, "But if you require anything of me, I am easy enough to reach." Sinstra says, "He is likely the one that got them all to leave." Diliben says, "Dastardly." Adreara says, "If he would taunt Asketi in her own temple then nothing would shock me at this point." Sinstra says, "Indeed."

Although the stand is empty now, a groove in the cushion covering the pedestal incidates that something heavy once rested upon it.

A small moth flies from one side of the room to another, landing on one of the pillars and then another. Apparently the only creature completely unhindered in the room, it flutters around with a disquieting lack of urgency.

Temple Inquisitor Khurek just arrived.

You say, "Hello Khurek."

You see Temple Inquisitor Khurek, a Gor'Tog Cleric. Khurek has ale-brown eyes. He has dusky olive skin and a thin build. He is venerable for a Gor'Tog. He has a tattoo of a fist of dark clouds holding a sword made of lightning on his neck. He is in good shape.

He is wearing a dinged lochaber axe, a black silken cowl, a glossy purple-black obsidian vulture symbol, a jadeite gwethdesuan, a kyanite gwethdesuan, a belted kidskin baldric tooled with sinuous maiden's tress vines, a sturdy leather pack, a mottled dark grey robe of steelsilk embroidered across the back with a large red spiral, a dark stained target shield and a pair of dusty basilisk-hide boots.

Khurek glances at you.

(not bad- the temple empaths cure infection)

Khurek asks, "Why are you here?"

You say, "I believe Sinstra didn't like some of my past actions."

Khurek asks, "Which are...?"

You say, "My grudge with Asketi has led me to dirty her altar."

Khurek blinks at you.

Khurek slaps you across the face!

(is that consent? lol)

You say, "I don't like being goaded or mocked by the immortals."

Khurek exclaims, "You do NOT have a grudge with a goddess!"

(sic) You say, "or perhaps by one her priests." (lost this line)

Khurek says, "Fight with her priests all you like. You will revere the divine."

Khurek frowns at you.

You say, "I give my favor to Meraud now."

You say, "I have to Asketi in the past.."

You say, "Her failure to ride has disappointed me."

You say, "Her attacks on me as well."

You say, "If she impresses me I will favor her again."

You say, "Until then I have no grudge at the moment."

Khurek says, "She is asleep, ignorant fool. Luckily for you."

Khurek says, "Now, hold your tongue unless you wish to extend your visit."

Khurek says, "Been a long day already."

Khurek makes a grunting noise.

The miasma becomes oppressively thick, the red swirls churning furiously.

Khurek stares at the pedestal in annoyance.

You say, "...."

Elsewhere's - Sinstra says to Celitha, "Do not speak of the shard. We will not be using it from here on out." Sinstra says, "There are other means to deal with the threats." Silvwyn asks, "The handmaiden..she mentioned some connection between it, and an altar on Ratha. But that was all she knew. Might you know more about it?" (i forgot they mentioned that at the apostle charging a week or so ago) Sinstra says, "That is a question for the High Priestess and not myself."

Khurek peers quizzically at you.

You smirk. (a verb that works here!!)

Khurek asks, "What now?"

You say, "Just lamenting to myself."

Khurek just went through the arched door.

You hear Khurek's voice from outside, saying, "Let the Human go in about ten roisaen."

Something that sounds like cacaphonous singing echoes in the air around you. After a long and tense moment, there is only silence.

Sobbing fills the chamber, although you're having trouble determining who is crying.

>look door The door is curiously open, allowing you a distant glimpse of the North Tower basement.

A small moth flies from one side of the room to another, landing on one of the pillars and then another. Apparently the only creature completely unhindered in the room, it flutters around with a disquieting lack of urgency.

You say to yourself, "It's growing on me.."

A priest of Aldauth walks into the room, looking at you sternly. "It's time, Powerhaus." With that, the priest drags your immobile form away and out of sight.

You are placed into the center of what appears to be a ritual circle. Condemning eyes glare at you from all around, as if damning you for your actions. An indigo light seems to creep into the ritual circle, and you feel your spirit weakening along with your health. It feels like your very heart is being torn from your chest.

The clerics seem to all chant as one, and ghostly hands rise from the ground. Quick as lightning, they wrap around your body, trapping you completely! Although you struggle, the hands around you in a translucent embrace!

The priest examines you closely, then nods. "Do not let us see you again, scum." With that, the clerics take you away, escorting you to the gate of the temple. You find yourself... [The Crossing, Immortals' Approach] This stretch of road is wide and paved with smooth stone blocks. Cherry trees in carved stone planters border the sweeping approach while softening the exterior walls surrounding the Temple grounds. [Temple Grounds, Entry Gates] The immense outer walls of the temple meet here, a thick lacquered mahogany gate acting as their mediator. The hardwood entrance has been banded with sturdy bars of steel to ensure its stamina in the most dire of times. A cobblestone path leads to the north, winding off into the various parts of the temple grounds. You also see a battered canvas tent with a large gladiola painted on the exterior, a white-robed monk and a low mahogany building. Obvious paths: north.

You nod to a white-robed monk.

You shake hands with a white-robed monk.

You wave. >go gat [The Crossing, Immortals' Approach] This stretch of road is wide and paved with smooth stone blocks. Temple Guard Ventuul just arrived.

You dust yourself off.

Ventuul says, "You appear unharmed."

You nod to Ventuul.

You ask, "Expected more?"

Ventuul says, "Yes."

You scuff your feet against the ground.

You shrug.

Ventuul shrugs.

You ponder.

Ventuul says, "I imagine if they had reason to release you, then all is well."

Your body feels in bad shape. Your spirit feels extremely weak. You have no significant injuries. (also had an hour long Pall on me i discovered later)

You say, "Intersting.."

Ventuul says, "So be it, I will return to my duties."

You nod.

Ventuul nods to you.

Temple Guard Ventuul just went northeast.

Power fights the law (sorta) and wins again!!!
