About the lens... · on 5/23/2011 9:38:33 PM 272
Hello Everyone,

I said I'd give you all a few days to experiment with the lenses before I gave out some information. If you don't want to know this and prefer to 'play and find out', then stop reading after this paragraph. But before I go into that, I'd like to say a special thank you to GM Alvy, GM Ulerith and GM Jhustis. Those 3 GM's stepped up and got the new interior rooms QC'd for you all. Based on when I was reminded of the rooms, it was very possible that they wouldn't get released but due to some great GM's, some of you will get to enjoy them.

That being said, let's talk about the new lenses....

In the Guild Suggestions, post #2621, the idea of determining cambrinth capacity and mana type was mentioned.

Since that time, we have introduced appraising cambrinth/gaethzen items for capacity and now we have the lens to help determine mana type. So let's look at a few rules on the lenses.

1. They can be recharged by any guild that uses mana and charges will vary based on skill.
2. You can recharge the item before it goes empty, but I urge you not to mix mana types in the lens (do not cross the streams!) if you want it to survive.
3. Once the lens is empty of mana, any type of mana can be used to recharge it. It effectively becomes neutral when all charges run out.
4. PEER LENS is the syntax while holding the lens in your right hand and cambrinth or gaethzen in your left hand.
5. What you see when you PEER through the lens will vary even within the same mana type. This wasn't to make it more difficult but to make it less boring and tedious.
6. The messages shouldn't be too hard to figure out, hopefully they were/will be fun.

Several things can break the lens, but most of these should be obvious. The lens can also get dirty and require a cleaning. None of this was meant to be irritating but rather to give you a useful interactive shop item. I hope you all enjoy them. :)

Best Regards,
~GM Arnimas
