Description: The Mark of Arhat spell is named for the founder of the first guild, Warrior Mages. Arhat was to fire magic as a mother is to child. One of his favorite spells was one of his own devising. He never named the spell, and when it was found at the time of his death, the spell was named in Arhat's honor. Mark of Arhat is a latent pattern that does not deal damage upon impact, but afterward as it is sparked by other elemental damage dealt to the target.
Effect: Fire damage, Dealt every time target is struck by any source of elemental damage.
Example Messaging: You gesture at a kobold.

With a burst of reddish light, a fiery swirl appears in the air beside you. A glowing lion that appears to be crafted from dancing crimson flames slinks out of the flaming portal and glances around the area, assessing the situation. With a roar reminiscent of a raging forest fire, the lion suddenly leaps at a kobold!

The lion slashes at the kobold with its blazing claws, leaving a trail of jagged blue-white lines branded upon it!
The fiery lion shakes its glowing mane, then vanishes in a swirl of flames.
Roundtime: 2 sec.
The appearance of Arhat (rare):
You gesture at a dire bear.
Streams of liquid fire drift from your hand to the ground, where they writhe and curl slowly. Spreading outward from you, the lines of fire coil themselves into complex designs that slowly take the shape of a single sigil of flame. Flashing brightly, the sigil draws itself upward and coalesces before you into the shape of a sun-bright humanoid figure. You glimpse wildly waving flame-like strands of hair and brightly glowing eyes as the figure raises a fire-covered hand and points at a dire bear!

Crimson fire flashes from the figure's fingertips at a dire bear, leaving a trail of jagged orange lines branded upon it!
The fiery figure lowers his hand, then vanishes in a swirl of flames.

ACTIVATING ON SECONDARY DAMAGE:
You gesture at a side-striped jackal.
Several shards of elemental flame fly at a side-striped jackal!

The branded lines of fire on a side-striped jackal flare a brilliant blue-white!
The shard hits a side-striped jackal in the left leg, scorching the skin.

Notes

  • Marked targets appear in the room LOOK as a <creature> that is branded with claw marks.
  • The triggered fire damage does not seem capable of igniting Naphtha. Using cold damage to trigger the mark on a naphtha doused target failed to do so (04/29/2021).
