To acquire a last name, you must visit a Genealogy Office.
In the Crossing, the genealogy office can be found on the second floor of the town hall, through the door at the end of the hallway. Asking the clerk to help you will cause him to list off all the services of the office. The services provided are registering an existing surname so no one can license it out for others to use, clearing your existing surname, choosing a surname if you don't have one already and information on how to share your surname amongst friends and family. The later is not a service the office provides, but they can educate on how to obtain a license to do so. It will cost 10 platinum kronars to register an existing surname and 1 platinum kronar to choose a new surname.
