Meaning 'blackberry' in Rakash, kazene is an opaque, purple-tinged black gem that has a glistening appearance when polished that makes it seem almost as though it would burst with juice if crushed. It doesn't, though. The gem called avene is actually the same type of mineral as kazene, but the name given to the stone changes depending upon its color (pink-tinged red for avene, purple-tinged black for kazene).
