Look: Scrollwork along the edges of the frame accentuate the scaled pattern upon the surface of this unique device, created to help scholars and merchants alike quickly and correctly count goods bought and sold. Consisting of a number of polished amber beads on thick dragonwood dowels, the abacus is partitioned to allow the separation of lesser and greater numbers by sliding the beads from one side to the other.
