This will be general help on wiki editing for new users as well as conventions upheld here at DragonRealms Wiki.

Creating a New Page

There are three ways to create a new page.

  1. Click on a redlink - link to a page that hasn't been created - add information, preview and save.
  2. Search for the title of the page you want to create, add information, preview and save.
  3. Edit the URL in your browser address bar to contain the title of the page you wish to create.
Example: http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/New Page Name

Be sure to preview your work before saving so you have an idea the impact your edits will have on the created page.

An important point to make is that capitalization matters in creating page names. The first letter will be capitalized automatically, but please capitalize all appropriate words in your title.

Editing

Templates

We will be creating a variety of templates to keep the look of DragonRealms Wiki universal and polished. These templates will be collected in Category:Templates Each one will have details on how to use them and what pages they are approprate for use on.

  • {{wikify}} - Tags article for someone to apply wikicode to the page. Useful for those unsure about wikicode.
  • {{DeletePage|reason}} - Tags article for deletion (with reason). An admin will view the article and delete it if warranted.

User Pages

Feel free to add info to your User page here within the wiki. Just click on your user name in the navigation bar that is across the top of the wiki window.

You can also sign other user's talk pages using the signature button (second from the right) in the wiki editor or putting in --~~~~ That will add a link to your user page as well as a time stamp.

You can edit your signature in your preferences in the Nickname field. An example is my signature (this is what I put into my Nickname field to set up my signature),

[[User:Naeya|Naeya]] ([[User Talk:Naeya|talk]]) (NOTE this is one example only! You can play with yours to do whatever you want, bold, colors, etc)

which gives a link to my user page as well as a link to my talk page for other users to leave me messages. This is how my signature will show up on a talk page:

--Naeya (talk) 01:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

If you edit your nickname with links, be sure to check the box next to Raw Signatures.

Feel free to add your character (via a character page) to the Player Characters category.
