A flowering type of tree. May actually be a species of crabapple tree.

A flowering crabtree grows beside the pond, stretching out its branches over the still waters and casting its pale pink blossoms in the breeze. Tall hedges edge the swimming hole here, blocking off the view of the surrounding greensward.
