Conversations

  • HUSBAND/CARAVAN: A tear wells up in Calabria's eye and she hisses, "My poor husssband... He wasss a caravan leader. We were wed but four monthsss when... Thievesss attacked his caravan train and killed him. I... I found out later that the dagger which killed him bore my maker'sss mark."
  • THIEF: Calabria hisses, "Sssomeday, I'll kill the onesss who killed my mate. The dagger that took hisss life isss alwaysss with me, honed and ready."
  • DAO: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "The dao? Thossse blasssted Sssand Elvesss like it -- it'sss too heavy for my tassstesss, about 6 handsss long and a hand wide, weighing about 25 ssstone. It isss honed on both edgesss, but hasss no point to it, sssimilar to a ssshort sssword. The edgesss of the blade are ssserrated in a jagged sssaw-tooth pattern -- ssshowy, but effective. My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 6500 lirums."
  • KNIFE: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "The belt knife?" She shrugs and says, "It'sss a knife, it cutsss your meat... what more can one sssay? My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 600 lirums."
  • OBEN: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "Oben'sss a short, curved sssword, about asss long asss the dissstance from my wrissst to elbow. It'sss one of my more elaborate knivesss, with enameled blue and gold sssstarflowersss along the inner curve of the blade, in memory of my husssband, may he ressst in peasssce. My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 6000 lirums."
  • MISERICORDE: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "Nowdaysss it'sss a lady'sss knife, but in the daysss before the godsss gave their favor ssso freely, thisss blade was usssed on the field of battle to give the godsss mercy to a comrade too badly wounded to sssurvive the trek to a healer. My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 1600 lirums."
  • BODICE DAGGER: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "Usssed to be only the highborn carried thessse, but nowdaysss everyone wantsss to pretend to be what they aren't, it ssseemsss. It'sss a pretty blade -- dark red wood in the hilt with gold filigree inlay to keep the hand from ssslipping. The blade isss etched with the image of a golden harp sssurrounded by flamesss, in honour of the Lady Peri'el asss sssingsss the dragon to sssleep. My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 3500 lirums."
  • GROOVED STEEL DAGGER: Calabria looks up from her work with a smile and says, "Tradition hasss it that the three channelsss let blood flow more easssily. I think it'sss nonsssenssse, myssself, but people are willing to buy them. My catalog has more information, on page 1. If you're interested, the cost would be 800 lirums."
