Notes

Requires oil, such as the miner's lamp oil sold in the Shard Survivalist shop. It must then be LIGHTed to light the lantern and illuminate dark places.

Lighting

The cowl itself has a lamp object attached to the top of it.

To fill the cowl, you must hold the cowl in one hand and a bottle of miner's lamp oil in your other hand, then POUR OIL IN LAMP.

Each bottle of miner's lamp oil is measured in terms of it's volume in stones. Looking at the bottle will tell you how many stones is left. A full refill of the lamp will expend one stone of oil from the bottle.

The lamp on the cowl can hold 20 parts of oil. A full lamp will last for 20 minutes before going dim. Charges can be examined at any time by COUNTing the lamp. It is important to remember to fill, count, and look at the lamp, not the cowl, when interfacing with it.

The cowl is lit in the same way as any other object is; drop the cowl, hold a blade in one hand and a flint in the other, then LIGHT LAMP WITH FLINT to light it. The lamp on the cowl will immediately illuminate the room you are in.
