What began as an attempt to hide a mistake resulted in a striking effect—the lightweight chambray fabric took on an unusual shadowed depth. Witchweft, so fancifully named for the prevalence of black in the fine fabric and an attempt to sound mysterious, quickly gained fame for its shadowy appearance and superb quality. It does not drape well and remains slightly stiff, even after repeated washing.
