	Ryken is River Elf who was born on the 2nd day of the 3rd month of Lirisa the Archer in the year of the Iron Toad, 298 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer. Born to a fairly average family, with three other brothers, his childhood was spent mostly aboard fishing and traveling ships near [[Ilaya Taipa]]. His mother was somewhat involved in politics, to her social detriment in the long run, and his father had an unfortunately fatal accident at sea during a run in with some pirates in [[Reshalia]]. Ryken was buffered from most of this family experience due to his work aboard ship, working his way from a lowly cabin boy up through the ranks to first mate. Returning home wasn't something he looked forward too, his heart having enjoyed the wandering and unattached life of the seas... so he ventured to [[Riverhaven]] and began his apprenticeship there under Guildmaster [[Ezruh]].

	Ryken was promoted to journeyman within the guild in the midst of the [[Outcast War]] and the assaults on the bards by [[Medmaev]] and [[Yalleck]]. In the course of these events his life took a significant turn from that of a poet singer, towards the pursuit of becoming a [[Songsworn]] and quiet disciple of [[Karovaas]].
