			Stave weapons may be created using the [[Weaponsmithing_discipline\|weaponsmithing discipline]] for forged metal staves, or the [[Shaping_discipline\|shaping discipline]] for shaped wooden staves.
	Staffs can be carved from branches at any skill level. The process takes a few moments and requires a {{ilink\|w\|carving knife}} and a branch, which can be [[Foraging skill\|foraged]] in most any wooded area. Taking the knife in one hand and the branch in the other, type CARVE MY BRANCH WITH MY KNIFE. A few carves later, you will be rewarded with a staff of random type and description. These weapons all appraise exactly the same and have the same weight.

			Old player-made wooden staffs were once able to range between 10 and 50 stones. A 10-stone heavy impact weapon that can strike from pole range is nothing to sneeze at. Quarterstaffs can also be used while grappling, which adds a bit of functionality to the otherwise dubious weapon.
