In tradition, the blood used was from that of a vanquished Gorbesh enemy, giving rise to its name sianedra (blood battle in Gorbesh). However, as the concept grew, Gorbesh leatherworkers realized that any blood treated with the tanning salts would work. Most commonly now, blood of the animal the leather comes from is used.

Once treated, the leathers take on rich caramel hues. Before the leathers harden, the material is molded and formed -- most Gorbesh opt to purchase sianedra leathers showing a defined physique, due to the color of the leathers appearing something like hard, glossy skin. Sianedra can be dyed, but always retains its rich caramel undertones.
