The man steps between sedge and brush, occasionally reaching out a hand to gently caress flowers as he passes.  Approaching a steep ravine, the man looks to each side the chasm's walls are jagged with sharp stone and the rushing water below is formidable. The man crouches, pressing a palm into the dirt, and the ground begins to shake.

You watch the man dip a quill into an inkpot, his hand flying across parchment in a precise scrawl.  Before the ink dries, the letters vanish, withdrawing along the lines back into the quill.  The man curses, blinking in confusion as he finds the vial's wax seal still intact.  With a growl, the man cracks the seal and repeats the process, only to watch the log once again disappear.

 Pincers grab your arm and bite deep, yanking you off your feet!  A clicking crauyarin scuttler bends down and several waggling protrusions stab towards you.  Suddenly, a blur of movement slams into the scuttler, knocking it sideways, and you scamper back, putting distance between you and the creature, turning to run.  The first step takes you miles away, the second step lands exactly where you started.  Your inner ear screams in protest and you find yourself fighting nausea before the difference between what is in front of you and what is behind you blurs, and you lose your balance, wobbling about.

 The ground rumbles softly, and a small mole with gleaming eyes pops through the ground and looks up at you expectantly.  The mole sniffs the air, then disappears back into the hole.  You leap into the hole after the mole, shrinking as you fall, and begin to race along the tunnel in pursuit.  The creature moves surprisingly fast, and the tunnel curves left and right, makes sudden dives, opens to strange caverns lined with glowing mushrooms, and winds between thick roots.  Eventually, you turn a sharp corner and find yourself face to face with the mole.  The mole gestures upward with its furry snout, and you see an opening ahead, which you climb up through.
