Within a sealed workroom annex adjoining the [[Fenvol's Folly|Folly]], the eccentric mage [[Fenvol]] experiments with methods to copy his precious tomes. One such project resulted in the inkbound guardians that roam the library. Another produced a tailoring technique that transfers a faint shadow of script onto target material washed in an alchemical bath of Fenvol’s own making.

Several types of material have proven compatible with the process, including muslin, tulle, velvet, oilskin/oilcloth, and leather. To its creator’s great disappointment, the lettering is almost always indecipherable once imprinted, though it crawls ceaselessly across the finished surface in the same way it does on the library's inkbound guardians. Due to the shadowy nature of the illusion and its atmospheric messaging, it is never applied to black or very dark material, where it wouldn't be visible. Any other colors are acceptable.
