A General Guide to Foragable Healing Herbs

This is a book written from the knowledge of wonderful
Guildleaders, many skilled Rangers and others who know
the wilds, in addition to my personal experiences and
research. I do not claim to know all there is to know
about herbs or even healing herbs. I have, however,
taken what I have learned firsthand and from others and
put it within the pages of this tome.

Jadice flower is a pale golden-yellow; its thin, star-
shaped petals taper to five points. It is used to heal
external limb wounds including tails. The taste is
slightly sweet and the flowers crispy. The scent is
very light, slightly powdery.

Jadice flower can be found year round, growing in sunny
fields and other bright open locations. The pollen is
used for scars on external limbs, including tails. The
pollen is very fine and produces sneezing and watery
eyes in some sensitive individuals on occasion.

Yelith root is a dark grey-green with a main root
that terminates in symmetrical tendrils that fork
evenly. The secondary tendrils are most pronounced at
the bottom, while being sparse along the rather
straight root. It is used for internal limb injuries.
The flavor is a bit sour to most races, and it has a
rather crunchy texture. It is found in swampy marsh-
lands and other shallow standing bodies of fresh
water. The leaves are broad, long and flecked with
golden orange, making it easy to spot.

Nuloe stem is a dark green woody plant with sparse thin,
spiny leaves. It is used for internal limb scars. It
grows in poor soil in sunny locations, and often atop
cliffs and hills. It has a somewhat bitter, chewy
taste, with a dusty pine scent. Available year-round
in the right locations, it grows low to the ground,
sometimes half buried in rocks, and is a very tiny
plant, making it very hard to find.

Nemoih root is a pale white-purple root; it is shaped
like a large radish but with a convoluted, maze-like
structure. It is crunchy outside and tender inside;
the flavor is somewhat turnip-like but spicy, between
a radish and a sort of onion. It is found in sunny,
open fields and similar locations year round. The
leaves of the plant are long and slender, making it
easy to pull up, while the spicy onion smell makes
it easy to find.

Nilos grass is a stubby short grass with rounded
leaves; it is light green, growing in poor soil and
partial shade. Found year-round, it is a tender,
almost tasteless, grass with almost no smell. It is
used for external abdomen abrasions. Often dried or
made into salves to increase potency and preserve use.

Plovik leaf is a forked leaf with many asymmetrical
terminations, it has dark red veins. The leaf is such
a dark green as to be almost black. It is found in
rich, semi-aquatic locations with a high mineral con-
tent, sometimes near brackish water. It has a very bit-
ter, sometimes salty, taste, with a slimy consistency.
It is used to heal outer chest wounds.

Hulnik grass is a dry, very thin grass that is a light
yellow green with tan stripes. It has a faint clove-
cinnamon flavor, but leaves one feeling thirsty due to
the low moisture content. Found in hilly regions and
fields with full sun. This plant is used for outer
back wounds. It is often used in weaving due to its
dry, slightly flexible nature.

A twisted, stubby grass found nearly everywhere, georin
grass is a medium green with faint ridges. It is
slightly crisp, while being tender near the base. It
is slightly sour and has a citrusy scent. It is used
to heal external neck wounds.

Rilour leaf is a dark green and split in three forks.
It is tasteless with a rose-like scent. It grows in
sunny fields with decent moisture content. It is often
found with georin grass and sometimes with nilos,
muljin or sufil sap. Used to heal internal neck
ailments. Not foragable in winter.

Muljin sap is found on the fine hair-like filaments of
a low growing plant; it is thick, oily, and milky in
color, with a faintly sweet taste. It is used for
healing internal abdomen problems. It is said to have
some use in poison-making; however that is not some-
thing I would care to discuss and clearly not my area
of expertise. It grows in sunny fields in moderate to
rich soil, and the flowers are dark pink in the center.
The broad leaves lie almost flat to the ground. Found
in spring and summer only, daylight required as well.

Sufil sap is found on protruding round seeds on low-
growing stalks of tiny plants. It is sticky and clear,
with a slightly sour flavor. The plants are covered
with tiny blue-green, four-petaled flowers. It is used
for external eye wounds. Found in fields and sunny
areas, quality soil, summer, spring and fall.

Eghmok moss is a dark green and reddish-brown moss. It
is very bitter. As a healing remedy it is not very
useful by itself unless it is made into a potion by
adding water and a catalyst. It is used in potion form
for internal head ailments. It is found in shady
areas and rich woodlands.

Blocil berries are tiny purple-black berries found
on low growing shrubs, usually in fields with decent
sun. They are filled with seeds, giving them a grainy
texture, and have a nightshade-like taste. They are
most effective for inner back wounds when made into
potion form with alchemy. Otherwise their healing
properties are decidedly weak.

Cebi root is a dark brown root; it is long and thin,
with several irregularly terminating forks. The taste
is extremely sour and bitter, the smell basically like
dirt. It grows in sunny locations with partial shade
and rich soil. The leaves of the plant are a very dark
grey-green and irregular with many splits. It is
extremely helpful for external scars of all types. It
is rather difficult to obtain because its branching
roots tend to break when the plant is pulled. Adding
to the difficulty are its low-growing tendency and the
fact that so many other plants are found in the same
area with the same coloration.

In my search to discover the source of ithor potion, I
have learned only that it comes from a moss found
inside certain old trees. It is used for internal
chest wounds, and is also combined with other rare
herbs to make remedies such as lujeakave elixir for nerve
damage and aevaes solution for internal eye injuries.
The taste is mildly oily.

Similarly, with hisan salve; I was told that it comes
from a grass found under rocks on atop high mountains.
It is used for internal scars of all types. It is also
used to make lujeakave elixir. It is heavily used in
cosmetics as well. The taste is horrid and bitter, and
its consistency is thick, heavy, paste-like, slimy and
sticky, I could believe it is made with insect parts.
If it were not so useful I would never use it. It can
be rubbed on body parts; however some of us are lazy,
and wish to obtain maximum benefit from an item so rare
and not grown by or foragable to any but a few shop-
keepers who keep their sources a well-protected
secret.
