Most of the plant remains hidden within cracks in the rock. It becomes conspicuous only when flowering, sending short, pallid stalks outward from the stone to bear large, pendulous blossoms. Colonies are most common where dense tangles of roots descend near the cave ceiling, and their presence can sometimes reveal substantial vegetation growing unseen on the surface above.

Each stalk bears a single trumpet-shaped flower that hangs downward into the open cave. The waxy blossom is ghostly white, with softly recurved lobes surrounding a pale lavender throat.
