For instance, you can type NEWS 1 1 into the search bar and the NEWS 1 1 page would redirect to the article with the full name such as [[NEWS 1 1 - Welcome to DragonRealms]], assuming that was what pagename format was decided on, even if no page had a direct link to [[NEWS 1 1]]. Redirects themselves are a good thing to have on a wiki and shouldn't be avoided. The general rule of thumb is if in doubt, create a redirect.
			:The reason why I suggest having the article title in the pagename is simply for informational purposes for a wiki user. NEWS 1 1 on its own isn't very informative, but NEWS 1 1 - Welcome to DragonRealms is.
