Almarius says, "It's a familiar scene. Two silhouettes crowd in the door of a moonlit nursery... Two eager parents are unable to shift their gaze away from their peacefully sleeping child."

(Allye lifts her hands to her instrument as Almarius speaks, and the gentle plinking of her lyre fills the room as a dainty melody is established.)

Almarius quietly sings in a sopranino voice:
"They keep their vigil at the door
As gentle summer night unfolds.
With hopeful eyes upon their child,
They wonder what the future holds."

Allye says, "A wistful smile crosses the mother's face. She reminisces about the early days, when her daughter was a soft, cuddly newborn."

(Almarius cradles her harp as she plucks a gentle echo to the lyre's melody, the notes tripping and flowing together like a cheerfully babbling brook.)

Allye sweetly sings in a soprano voice:
"The mother smiles and whispers soft,
"How sweet she was, so full of charm.
That gurgling smile that gripped my heart,
The warmth of her, held in my arms.""

Almarius says, "Eyes crinkling mischievously, her husband leans toward her and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear. He whispers to her a memory of his own."

Allye smiles to herself as she deftly weaves a discordant line that meanders through the playful tune.

Almarius playfully sings in a sopranino voice:
"Remember too the tricky times!
Like the famed thund'rous inkpot drop,
When through the house we raced to find
Her, drenched in ink from toes to top."

Allye says, "With a quiet laugh and a subtle shake of her head, his wife presses on."

(Almarius plays a series of short glissandos before each line of the music, sweetly coaxing the melody forward.)

Allye happily sings in a soprano voice:
"But oh, her naughty acts just fade,
When I recall my favorite days,
First wobbly steps to outstretched arms,
The joy that lit her tiny face."

Almarius says, "The father grins and nods along as his wife's nostalgia flares, and he joins her in remembering their daughter's adorable antics."

(Allye's lyre faithfully continues its steady plinking song, the sound of it at once sweet and cheerful.)

Almarius cheerfully sings in a sopranino voice:
"It's true, my love, to recollect
Those happy instances is fine.
And yet I hold her tantrums dear
Her noisy screams of "No!" and "MINE!""

Almarius smiles and leans into the delicate melody, her fingers moving gracefully across the taut strings of her harp.

Allye gently sings in a soprano voice:
"She turned and leaned against him now,
All sighs and smiles, all blithe and warm.
She turned to lean against the man
That sheltered her from every storm."

(Allye's lyre echoes the gentle notes of Almarius' harp, the melody growing slower and more quiet as it begins to wind down.)

Almarius mirthfully sings in a sopranino voice:
"He wrapped his arms around her waist,
To pull her close, his dear child's mother.
And then he choked to hear her laugh,
"Hmm. . . Perhaps we should have another?""

Allye flashes a quick grin.

Almarius smiles as she looks up at Allye. With a short, coordinated nod, both of their instruments are silenced as the twining melody rolls to a neat end.

Allye sinks into a deep curtsy.
