==Shift Quest==
:This information was donated by Katrinna Muffkins at DrAddicts.com. It has been revised with more specific information and a required step that was omitted from the previous version.
:If everything goes well, it will take a couple of hours to complete this quest (travel time).
:A Moon Mage is helpful with all the travel.
:This guide tells only the minimum steps needed to complete the quest. If you're interested in the story, you can ask the NPCs about other names.

#The best time to begin this quest is at sunrise.

#Speak to the lutenist at Faenella's Shrine in the [[RanikMap2a|Eyes of the Thirteen]]. Ask the lutenist about Bruwster. He will recommend that you visit Ivinnes in Promado Village. Lutenist appears at Sunrise in-game, and stays for a brief period.

#The next stop is [[RanikMap7b|Arthe Dale]]. Buy a piece of cheese from Feta's Kitchen, Fresh Dairy and Baked Goods. Type of cheese does not seem to matter.

#Head to [[RanikMap9b|Promado Village]], and find Ivinnes in his cottage. Room 114 on current mapper.

#Ask Ivinnes about Bruwster. He will give a response about blue stores - this is normal. Give him the cheese (command is GIVE CHEESE TO IVINNES)

#He'll then start a story. Ask him about any and all other names he mentions if you want the whole story behind the quest etc. If not, you can continue on.

#Let him finish his entire story, and then ask him about Bruwster again. He'll tell you to head down to Illithi as well as a clue to the next person you have to talk to.

#Next up is the travelling part of the quest. You will be sent on a mission to talk to various NPCs in Ilithi. IVINNES will tell you the first one you have to visit. Ask that NPC about Bruwster. If you get a response like "I don't trust you and need a recommendation to speak with you" you are talking to the wrong person. Go try someone else. If you get "Go talk to this person" then follow their hint to the next NPC. These are some of the NPCs you will be asked to visit:
##Halfling Vendor - NE, NE from the Central Tower in the Central [[RanikMap67|Shard]] area (only available during the day)
##Bard Guildlead Macfrae - Bard Guild in southwestern [[RanikMap67|Shard]] at the private table
##Sierack - [[RanikMap67|Shard]] Artifactor Shop
##Windawn - [[RanikMap64|Fayrin's Rest]] inside Marachek's Oak (once inside GO CLOCK, GO GREEN DOOR)
##Enescu - Herbalist shop in [[RanikMap64|Fayrin's Rest]] just south of Marachek's Oak

Each person will either point you to the location, or give you a vague clue to the next stop - for example Windawn clearly pointed to Macfrae, but Macfrae said "Macfrae studies you a moment, his eyes crossing slightly in concentration. "Bruwster? Aye, a fine name for a fine lad! Researching some kind of magic, he is." - this is a hint to visit the magic shop next.

#Eventually one of these NPCs will tell you where Bruwster is. He can be found in one of these five places.
##[[RanikMap66|Wylder Spring]] - head to jackals east of shard and look around in the center part for a willow tree. There should be a path there (it might be hidden), you may need to LOOK BEHIND WILLOW, then GO PATH, GO COTTAGE.
##[[RanikMap68|Dark Hand]] - go out the south gate of Shard, and keep going south until you see an oak tree. LOOK BEHIND OAK, GO PATH, GO COTTAGE. Room 38 on map 68 in Genie, currently.
##[[RanikMap70|Wyvern Wood]] - go out the west gate. Keep going on until you see a room called "Western Road, Wyvern Wood" and a spindly maple in the description. LOOK BEHIND MAPLE TREE, GO PATH, GO COTTAGE.
##[[RanikMap64|Behind some houses]] - If you're told "just down the road a bit, behind some houses," go east of Marachek's Oak in Fayrin's Rest until you some "Small cylindrical houses" in the room description. LOOK BEHIND HOUSE, GO PATH, GO COTTAGE.
##[[RanikMap66a|Steel Claw Clan behind the Berengaria Shrine]] - From the bridge that leads to Steel Claw Clan go east and then "northish" along the rooms with "Bridle Path" in their title until you see the Berengaria Shrine. LOOK BEHIND SHRINE, GO PATH, GO COTTAGE.
#Once you're inside Bruwster's Home, ask Bruwster about shift, and then ask him about quest. He will tell you to go back to Promado Village to retrieve a book that he left at his old house.
#In Promado Village, look for a house at the top of a knoll (room 113 on map 9b). Open the door and go inside. Go East, South - you should be in a 'bedroom' (not master) with three bookshelves. The lines of Bruwster's poem began with the letters "TUNNEL." You can find the secret tunnel by reading the titles of the scrolls on the bookshelves and pulling them in order of their titles (to spell "TUNNEL"). The correct order is:
##large scroll
##tiny scroll
##small scroll
##frayed scroll
##yellow scroll
##grubby scroll
#After pulling the right scrolls, the bookcase will swing open. Enter the tunnel and go down twice. You will see a work table. Look on the table, and grab the book (GET BOOK) you see.
#Return to Bruwster's Home. Give him the book, (GIVE MY BOOK TO BRUWSTER) and he will teach you how to shift.

Covered in wrinkled grey flesh, the grave worm resembles a large slug. It is only a superficial similarity, however, since slugs lack the ringed mouth of sharpened teeth as well as the exoskeleton-encased hind quarters and vestigial limbs that this monstrosity has. A foul stench rises from the worm, the source no doubt the disgusting dripping mess that runs off its form.
Could just some double checking for this. I know as a magic secondary I did get a slot at 117. --[[User:TEVESHSZAT|TEVESHSZAT]] ([[User talk:TEVESHSZAT|talk]]) 22:43, 19 June 2014 (CDT)
==Old Comments==
Any thoughts to just rolling the guilds on when you get spells into the title (So - Magic Primary - Moon Mage, Cleric, War Mage, etc), and dropping the verbage (since the chart illustrates that.)? [[User:Hithrael|Hithrael]] 22:26, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

::Storing old info here just incase we decided to roll it back.
[[Cleric|Clerics]], [[Moon Mage|Moon Mages]], and [[Warrior Mage|Warrior Mages]] all receive spell slots at circles 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and every three circles thereafter. Starting at 105th circle, spell slots are gained at a slower rate (every 5 circles).

[[Empath|Empaths]], [[Bard|Bards]], and [[Necromancer|Necromancers]] all receive spell slots at circles 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and every three circles thereafter. Starting at 105th circle, spell slots are gained at a slower rate (every 5 circles).

[[Ranger|Rangers]] and [[Paladin|Paladins]] receive spell slots at circle 5 and every four circles thereafter. They receive a spell slot every 10 circles after 100th circle.

:Fine with me, as long as it'll still be in one article. This might help it look cleaner. [[User:Reene|Reene]] 22:27, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Anyone else bothered by the fact secondary magic guilds gain an equal amount of spell slots on the exact same circles? What benefit does being magic primary actually give you? Learning rates is the only difference? Then it drops super low for the tertiary. WHY not have secondary actually be in the middle or primary and tertiary? Seems just really poor logic and very poor planning. Those guilds don't even have spells to fill the slots with. Its a farce to allow them to learn as many spells as a secondary guild anyway.
:Please sign your talk posts with <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>. Elanthipedia isn't a good venue for critiquing the current mechanics. Perhaps you should post this on Play.net. As for the benefits of being magic-primary, my understanding is that their attunement recovers more quickly. There may be other perks. --[[User:Isharon|Isharon]] 19:03, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
::That's correct after 200 ranks of harness, see [[Harness Regeneration]] for the figures.
::It's also worth noting that in the new magic, there will be a difference between the rates Primary and Secondary gain slots as well as new ways utilize the slots. [[User:Glimmereyes|Glimmereyes]] 21:04, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Composed of rock, the gargoyle is a statue come to life at the hand of an ambitious mage. Mostly irate at the world and grumbling to itself about anything from the state of the Elven nation to the weather, the gargoyle does not look so much inclined to fight as it is to curl up in a corner and look frightening. Still, it knows its task as a protector of its creator's domain, and will do its best to keep invaders from treading on its turf.
==Use==
*This command will provide detailed information, including such things as the item's maker. The amount of information provided is based on an count that is invisible to players. The counter is based off the user's own experience at the forge, with items of the same skill as the object having greater weight in the contest.
**For project that reside on a tool while being worked, analyze defaults to analyzing both tool and project with a combined roundtime. You may specify the name of the item being crafted to analyze the in-progress item by itself.

*This command will provide information on what next combat move(s) should be landed on the creature you are fighting in order to cause a temporary penalty to a type of defense. See [[combo]] for more details.

==Crafting 3.0==
A command used with the crafting skills for many purposes.

Gets better with skill - for now, mech lore and appraisal. Some techniques also improve the ability to analyze.

===Levels of success===
Greatest:<br/>

*You analyze every minute detail of the <''item''> and smile knowingly to yourself.
Craftmanship, difficulty, relative crafter ability, volume, mark<br/>
*You analyze every aspect of the <''item''> and nod as your understanding grows.
Craftmanship, difficulty, relative crafter ability, volume, mark<br/>
*You deeply analyze the <''item''> and pour over its construction.
Craftmanship, difficulty, crafter ability, volume<br/>
*You thoroughly analyze the <''item''>, revealing some of its secrets.
Craftmanship, difficulty, relative crafter ability, durability(tools) <br/>
*You analyze the <''item''> and learn more about its construction.
Craftmanship, difficulty<br/>
*You roughly analyze the <''item''> and make a few observations.
Craftmanship<br />
*You try to analyze the <''item''>, but are unable to discerne hardly anything about it.
Only what it will be when finished/what it is(condition if tool)
<br />

==Combat 3.1==
Analyze in combat 3.1 has two functions; both are tied into the [[Combo]] system.

==Generic combat version==

ANALYZE <engaged enemy>
ANALYZE may also be used on an engaged enemy to attempt a tactical combo. Tactical combo success depends on the user's Tactics skill and require a certain number of moves be performed within a short amount of time. If done a large penalty is applied to the enemy's combat prowess. Additional ANALYZE attempts on the enemy will increase the size of the penalty when the combo is completed, and increase the time allowed to complete it.

The general analyze will attempt to debuff an enemy. It requires you to be engaged with at least one enemy, and can apply a variety of effects and effect levels.

==Barbarian Variant==

ANALYZE <type>
Barbarians can analyze themselves to begin a self combo. These work very similar to enemy combos, except they use Expertise skill and can only be advanced by the Barbarian while engaged. Self combos do not have a strength, and subsequent ANALYZE attempts will be wasted. It is also possible to ANALYZE FLAME, ACCURACY, DAMAGE, INTIMIDATION, FATIGUE, BALANCE, VITALITY, RAGE or CALM.

This has been referred to as 'analyze self' whereas the typical combat analyze is 'analyze other'.

==Barbarian Combos==
How much fatigue it uses. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.<br />
To what extent in gains/loses balance.<br />
The length of the roundtime for the attack. <br />
The accuracy of the maneuver.<br />
The damage stat that this attack '''most''' favors.<br />
The damage stat that this attack '''least''' favors.<br />
Attacks temporarily penalize all defenses, but some less than others: the first collumn is the least penalized<br />
And the second is the most penalized defense(s).
==Charged Maneuvers==

Charged Maneuvers are several new commands that take a certain amount of time to "charge up" in between the command being typed and the action is executed. The maneuver will fail if you are in RT, disabled, or out of range when it triggers.

There is a small chance that the melee maneuver may trigger for offhand as well, but it is low.

Activated via the {{com|maneuver}} command. {{tt|maneuver charge}} will select the appropriate charged maneuver for the weapon you are using.
===Ranged===
* MANEUVER POWERSHOT: Bows, Slings, Crossbows, Slingbows. Incredibly accurate, moderate damage bonus. Does not take AIM into account, and cannot be used with any special maneuvers (poach, snipe, etc). Enhanced damage.
* MANEUVER DOUBLESHOT: This maneuver has been disabled. It's future is uncertain.
* [[Hurl command|HURL]]: Incredibly damaging maneuver for thrown weapons with a guaranteed chance to lodge for all types of weapons (even blunts).
* [[Lob command|LOB]]: Lightly damaging, fast attack for thrown weapons that has 0% chance to lodge with all types of weapons.
===Melee===
* MANEUVER CLEAVE: Swords. Moderate damage bonus. About 3x the damage of DRAW, with an OF bonus.
* MANEUVER CRASH: Blunts. Great damage bonus.
* MANEUVER IMPALE: Polearms. Exceptional damage bonus, ?ignores armor?.
* MANEUVER TWIRL: Staves. Exceptional damage bonus.
* MANEUVER PALMSTRIKE: Unarmed. Incredible accurate, moderate damage bonus, shorter cooldown.
* MANEUVER SUPLEX: Grappling. Incredibly accurate, great damage bonus, knocks enemy over.
* MANEUVER DOUBLESTRIKE: Dual Wielding. Moderately accurate, great damage bonus, 2 attacks.
* MANEUVER TENDONSLICE: This maneuver had been disabled for now.

Table columns in order are:<br />
Verb used to do the maneuver.<br />
Type of maneuver it is.<br />
How much fatigue it uses. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.<br />
To what extent in gains/loses balance.<br />
The length of the roundtime for the attack. <br />
The accuracy of the maneuver.<br />
The damage stat that this attack '''most''' favors.<br />
The damage stat that this attack '''least''' favors.<br />
Attacks temporarily penalize all defenses, but some less than others: the first collumn is the least penalized<br />
And the second is the most penalized defense(s).

==Charged Maneuvers==

===Ranged===
===Melee===
* MANEUVER CLEAVE: Swords. Moderate damage bonus. About 3x the damage of DRAW, with an OF bonus.
* MANEUVER CRASH: Blunts. Great damage bonus.
* MANEUVER IMPALE: Polearms. Exceptional damage bonus, ?ignores armor?.
* MANEUVER TWIRL: Staves. Exceptional damage bonus.
* MANEUVER PALMSTRIKE: Unarmed. Incredible accurate, moderate damage bonus, shorter cooldown.
* MANEUVER SUPLEX: Grappling. Incredibly accurate, great damage bonus, knocks enemy over.
* MANEUVER DOUBLESTRIKE: Dual Wielding. Moderately accurate, great damage bonus, 2 attacks.
* MANEUVER TENDONSLICE: This maneuver had been disabled for now.
=== Skillsets and Common Races===
A [[Barbarian|barbarian]]'s primary [[Guilds#Specific_Skill_Sets|skillset]] is {{catskill|Weapon}}.  {{Catskill|Survival}} and {{catskill|Armor}} are secondary skillsets, with {{Catskill|Magic}} and {{Catskill|Lore}} as tertiaries.

According to the DragonRealms website, barbarians tend to be:

{|
| [[:Category:Gor'Tog|Gor'Tog]]
|align="right"| 29%
|-
| [[:Category:Human|Human]]
|align="right"| 17%
|-
| [[:Category:Dwarf|Dwarven]]
|align="right"| 14%
|-
| [[:Category:S'Kra Mur|S'Kra Mur]]
|align="right"| 11%
|}

===Crafting Affiliation===
Guilded barbarians receive three free technique slots in the Weaponsmithing discipline of the [[Forging skill]].

See: [[Crafting]]

==[[Barbarian Abilities]]==

Barbarians gain new ability slots at the rate of 1 every other circle, starting at 1st. So 1, 3, 5, etc. Abilities will cost between 1 and 5 slots.

Barbarians will accrue a total of 55 ability slots at circle 150. In the 151-200 range, no new perks or slots are granted.

===[[Inner Fire]]===
The driving force in every Barbarian - that which is alive in all, but strong in few. A Barbarian's Inner Fire is the source of his/her tremendous courage and strength. For training, this skill occupies a space analagous to Primary magic.

===[[:Category:Barbarian Forms|Form]]===
Forms are long moderate duration abilities offering a wide variety of buffs primarily to combat related things, such as stats, burden, offensive factor and warding. Will train [[Inner Fire]], and then either [[Augmentation]] or [[Warding]].

===[[Berserks]]===
A berserking Barbarian is able to push through physical pain and increase his/her strength and stamina. The barbarian could literally die on his/her feet when the battle rage wears off.

To clear up some confusion, these abilities no longer have the penalties associated with them from previous incarnations of DR; they offer a wide variety of effects, and do not stun or otherwise effect/penalize the player when they expire.

These will primarily train the [[Inner Fire]], [[Warding]], and [[Augmentation]] skills.

===Bonus [[Stance command|Stance]] Points===
Barbarians gain an additional stance point for every 60 ranks in the [[Defending]] skill, like all armor secondary guilds.

===[[Dual Load]]===
Allows two arrows to be loaded and fired from a bow. Requires 201 Bows, 30 Agility, 30 Reflex and Eagle Form active.

===[[Barbarian Magic Resistance|Magic Resistance]]===
Because of both [[Inner Fire]] and their disdain for the magical, Barbarians are much more difficult to affect with magic than any other guild. In previous versions of DR, this was an innate feat, but currently takes the form of premier anti-magic abilities. For examples, look at [[Swan Form]], [[Turtle Form]], and [[Mage's Lash Roar]].

Barbarians no longer have any more or less passive magic resistance than another character of any other guild.

===[[Meditations]]===
Meditations are long duration buffs which cover a wide territory, including damage reduction, such as [[Tenacity Meditation]], or skill boosts such as the [[Focus Meditation]].

The player cannot be in combat, and must be sitting or kneeling, to start a meditation.

===[[Roars]]===
Barbarian roars are strictly debilitators. They can unbalance foes, knock them out of hiding, or reduce the power of a mage. They train the [[Debilitation]] skill.

===[[War Stomp]]===
At 100th level, Barbarians learn how to shiver the ground with their rage, knocking opponents off balance.

===[[Whirlwind (Ability)|Whirlwind]]===
The Barbarian-only ability to rotate in place, making an attack on everything within your weapons range. It also can be used to free oneself from webbing. The attack version of this requires 350 in the weapon being used and 30 agility and reflexes.

==Expertise Skill==
This skill represents a Barbarian's Mastery with weapons and combat-related tasks.

* Expertise can be trained by performing Charged Combat Maneuvers and succeeding an Expertise Check.
* Expertise can be trained by completing Barbarian Combos.

===[[Berserks]]===
A berserking Barbarian is able to push through physical pain and increase his/her strength and stamina. The barbarian could literally die on his/her feet when the battle rage wears off. These will primarily train the [[Inner Fire]] and [[Augmentation]] skills.

The player cannot be in combat, and must be sitting or kneeling, to start a meditation.

===[[Roars]]===
Barbarian roars are strictly debilitators. They can unbalance foes, knock them out of hiding, or reduce the power of a mage. They train the [[Debilitation]] skill.

===[[War Stomp]]===
At 100th level, Barbarians learn how to shiver the ground with their rage, knocking opponents off balance.

The <b>Barbarian</b>'s life is a simple one, but not an easy one. The field of combat is our crib; the blood of foes is mother's milk to us. Stand with us, and flesh your sleepless sword in training in the field. Live with us, and steel your mind against the taint of Magic's aid. Die with us, and drive your body to a warrior's dogged end while those of lesser mettle cower at inglorious range!

[[Inner Fire]] is the measure both of rage and of control, and the substance of Barbarian heart and guts; in purity, it fuels the bloodlust of the battle-hardened and stills the mind of the meditator. But be wary - the taint of magic will disrupt this fragile balance of body and soul, so leave the mana-meddling to those who lean on magic as a crutch!
The letters swim before your eyes, though you cannot say if it is tears, or age, or weariness that clouds your vision. The individual words and patterns are each as familiar as a lover, but today the meaning of the whole escapes you. At last, you relent, beckoning a nearby acolyte.
"Child, fetch me the previous volume if you will. The author's reasoning eludes me. There was a certain figure..."
"Yes. Yes, of course. Do forgive me. I won't be needing you further this afternoon."
Your eyes fill with tears. You bow your head, lest the falling drops mar the text.

==Study==
Study:
Looking at your reliquary, you feel certain that you could:
FOCUS, PRAY, TOUCH, OPEN, and CLEAN it.

Focus:
The anloral reliquary has some sort of magical pattern, which apparently is an enchantment.
You recognize the pattern as a delicate skein Holy magic.
The pattern manifests as a series of self-similar curves, their loops and angles vaguely reminiscent of handwriting. Analysis of the pattern shows that its geometrical structure is made up of dozens self-similar layers, their superposition looking much like a palimpsest.
Roundtime: 2 sec.

Pray1:

Placing one hand on your anloral reliquary, you mutter a soft prayer to Meraud.

You see a brief vision of a young man studying an elaborate spell pattern by candlelight.

Pray2:

Placing one hand on your anloral reliquary, you mutter a soft prayer to Meraud.

You see a brief vision of an elderly hand carefully writing the words, "I am now a stranger to myself, lost in the labyrinth of my own mind..."

Touch:

You caress the smooth anloral comprising your anloral reliquary. It grows warm, seeming to welcome your touch.

Open:

You carefully open the anloral reliquary.

Inside, you see a tattered bit of yellowed parchment completely covered in fading brown writing in an elegant hand. Damage to the page and the archaic script make deciphering the content of the text nearly impossible.
In the lower left corner, a miniature illustration of a wolf can be discerned, bits of gold leaf still clinging to the illumination.

You gently close the reliquary once more, meticulously securing the complex latch.

==Description==
Closely resembling her smaller domesticated cousin, the razortusk sow adds beady, bloodshot eyes and razor-sharp tusks to the normal porcine physique.

==In Depth==

Good intermediate between [[Sand Sprite]]s and [[Silver Leucro]]s. Like other porcine-type creatures, they hit very hard for their level, so they can potentially be more dangerous one-on-one than a silver leucro, but overall are lower level. Dancing with four does not lock armor as fast as four leucros.

They spawn in the eastern portion of the road to selkies, near the abandoned farm/vacant fields. They are separated from the razortusk boars and do not mix. (Used SIRE to double check).

All armor/evasion/etc. stopped learning roughly 105 ranks. Drastic slow down in weapons training around 85 weapons.
