You see Flora Sage Ipseities of Elanthia, an Elothean Empath.
Ipseities has laugh lines, slightly pointed ears, tilted almond-shaped cat-slitted amber eyes and a freckled nose. Her amber hair is calf-length, fine, and is worn pulled back on one side by a blackened bog oak circlet sprouting wicked thistles of absinthe emerald and left to flow over the shoulders. She has freckled skin smudged with dirt and tufts of swamp moss and a blooming mapha vine twining a colorful inflorescence of moth orchids to climb a sylphlike figure.
She is one who towers among others for an Elothean.
She appears to be in her prime.
Ipseities has bark-like scales of gleaming sardonyx framing one side of her face with rich mahogany pieces accenting the jawline. Additional flakes of oak-red and pine-yellow stone sharpen the contours of the cheekbone.
Her left palm has a tattoo of a conflicted symbol of creation.
A petite mother-of-pearl ladybug pulsing with phosphorescent light buzzes around Ipseities, glowing with inexhaustible energy.
She is in good shape.

She is wearing a chubby cassava root affixed with googly eyes, a stiffly coiled wormwood vine forearm wrap, some undulating vines edged in phantom silvermums and glowing gold seed pods, some high-heeled slouched leather boots, an elegant amber snail formed from fine silky sand, a charming tapestry carpetbag patterned with sprawling cabbage roses, a chic evening bag of silver mesh with a pearl-studded wrist strap, a scintillating golden evening gown wound with resplendent flora, a pure white flat-bottomed gourd embellished at the rim with wispy swan feathers, a pair of gold frog leg earrings, and a gleaming brass badge etched with "Fear the bunnies!".
You see Flora Sage Ipseities of Elanthia, an Elothean Empath.
Ipseities has laugh lines, slightly pointed ears, tilted almond-shaped cat-slitted amber eyes and a freckled nose. Her amber hair is very long and thick, and is worn arranged in tight dreadlocks. She has freckled skin and a blooming mapha vine twining a colorful inflorescence of moth orchids to climb a svelte figure.
She is tall for an Elothean.

She is wearing an undulating vine cloak edged in phantom silvermums and glowing gold seed pods, a charming tapestry carpetbag patterned with sprawling cabbage roses, a small leaf-green katydid, a pink-toed white rat, a shimmering blue-green beaded gown accented by a long peacock feather, a peacock-green silk blouse embroidered with a tiny seated wolf, some darned toe socks of gradient purple hues, some high-heeled slouched leather boots, a chic evening bag of silver mesh with a pearl-studded wrist strap, a pure white flat-bottomed gourd embellished at the rim with wispy swan feathers, a chubby cassava root affixed with googly eyes, a pair of gold frog leg earrings, and a gleaming brass badge etched with "Fear the bunnies!".

IPSEITIES: /* Requirements */

spoilers
Given by: Father Karjon in the church of Tiger Clan

The original version of this walkthrough was put together by Renkxil and reformatted by Dasffion. It was copied to Elanthipedia from the now shuttered DRSecrets website.

Requirements
To obtain this spell you need the following:
* 30 Charisma
* 35 Discipline
* Holy oil
* a feather from the Crossing cleric shop
* 13 altar candles and a way to light them
* holy water
* a decent amount of devotion
* two spell slots

Recommendations
You need to be able to hit the bony fylgja. In general, this requires at least a 24 mana cast of Harm Horde or 45 mana cast of Harm Evil with a minimum of 35 discipline. After reading the tome (step 3), you will be randomly ambushed by bony fylgja. If you can kill them outside the void, then you will be fine on the quest. If you can't kill them, find someone to teach you Targeted Magic and guard you while you work on the below. Here are some things you can do to improve your chances of hitting:

* Have a 270 minimum average of Holy Magic and Targeted Magic
* Pick up the Targeted Mastery magical feat
* Align to a god to get a Targeted Magic bonus
* Use Time of the Red Spiral to boost your Harm Evil or Harm Horde spells
* Get a Moon Mage prediction on Targeted Magic and/or Holy Magic
* Adjust your SPELLS STANCE 100 70 130

Other recommendations for the quest include:

* Using Major Physical Protection and Shield of Light with an evasion/shield stance give you the best chance to avoid being hit
* Cast Protection from Evil and Minor Physical Protection just in case you are hit
* Cast Persistence of Mana before entering the void to help with mana-intensive casting
* OM will discharge when going through the portal, so don't rely on it for POM, or other spells.

Walkthrough

If at any time you lose the egg or phoenix, you'll have to restart the entire quest. Go back to Karjon and Ask Karjon to QUIT. This comes with a steep price, however. You won't be able to start the quest again for 3 RL months

# Talk to Father Karjon in the 4a. He's hard to miss. ASK Karjon about Murrula's Flames and he'll give you a key.
# Head down to the dark spirits (use Divine Radiance as a light source), and you'll find a room that has a pile of rotting timbers in it. Look for the pile that looks "oddly different". Push on the timbers until the trap door appears. UNLOCK it with the key, OPEN and GO trap door.
# Open tome. READ tome. Turn tome to change pages and continue reading until the end. There is heavy RT here, but the area is safe.
# Head to the death spirit area in the 60 north of Leth Deriel. You may enter through Silverclaw Hub at any time of day. Begin to SAY Findylis in every room of the death spirit area.
# Findylis will take you to her tree and talk to you for a while then ask you to kill and raise a dryad.
# Get your holy oil and your feather then head back to the blood dryad and nyad spot. Kill a dryad, cast soul bonding on it, DIP feather in holy oil, MARK dryad with feather and then raise it. If your devotion level is too low, you won't be able to complete this step. Wait for the newly risen dryad to leave the area before heading back to Findylis, or she will not recognize that you completed her task.
#*MAKE SURE YOU SOUL BOND THE DRYAD. If you don't it'll raise a corrupted dryad that will kill you.
# Head back to the same spot and say Findylis again. Here, she will give you a speech, and then ask you to climb her tree and "Master the Echos."
# Climb the tree and LISTEN. Various random musics will start to echo. Each time a type of music plays, it will be a favored type of an aspect of Faenella. Idon (heron), is all drums and percussions. Faenella (wren) is all harps and stringed instruments. Murrula (phoenix) is all flutes and woodwinds, and singing. TOUCH the figures who correspond to the music. After you touch the figures enough times correctly a long sequence will begin, and you will receive an egg.
#*You only need to listen once, even if prompted to listen again later.
#*Wait until an egg appears on the altar and pick it up.
# Go down and talk to Findylis again. She will tell you to have the immortals cast their benevolent gaze down upon you, etc. Head to the Crossing Temple.
# The rest of this sequence must be completed in a timed window, or your phoenix will turn back into an egg and you will have to restart at this point. Make sure you have six uninterrupted hours of time on hand.
# Buy thirteen is from a cleric shop or the cart-monk on the temple grounds. Head up to the Eyes of the Thirteen and put a lit candle in each of the candlestick next to each of the Thirteen's altars. Once they're all lit hurry down to the 2 and put your egg on it. If all the candles are still lit, the egg will "hatch" a statue of a phoenix.
# Clean the phoenix with some holy water. It should read something about the starry road. This means, its off to the 31a swamp again!
#*Apparently if you do not clean the phoenix at the altar it won't message, but you will be able to complete the quest so long as the phoenix is clean.
# Go to the greater Zaulfung swamp and go to the area on Ranik's map marked "Beak" (lich 10860) (room name: [Zaulfung, Aldauth's Maw]) and climb it.
#*If your climbing skill is lacking, ask a Ranger to cast Athleticism upon you. 150 Athletics was enough to not need the buff.
# Go all the way down, go all the way north, and climb the crevice. Go up, and climb the spire (rm93-genie)(lich 12060). When you get to the massive black basalt spire PUT phoenix in spire. After a short sequence, a portal will open. Get the phoenix from the spire and go through the portal.
#*Once you enter you will not be able to use any of your inventory. Cast Persistence of Mana before entering the void.
#*Don't drop your phoenix while in the Starry Road. If you do and it disappears, you will be stuck requiring GM intervention.
# Now, you're back in the void. Thirteen total bony fylgja will spawn each holding a carving for a triptych; kill the bony fylgjas and get the carving that they drop. Affix the carving to the triptych of where that aspect of the god is missing (map with god grouping hints: https://imgur.com/a/nBfxYyZ). For example, if a shark drops, put it on the triptych with the albatross and dolphin, and so on. See the recommendations above for Targeted/Holy Magic and spell cast mana requirements. Suffice to say, if you have the minimum recommended requirements it will take hours to kill them all.
#*You will be naked while in the void, so it is necessary to constantly RETREAT when you are engaged. Shield/Evasion stance with Shield of Light, Protection from Evil, and Minor Physical Protection will help prevent being one-shot if you do get hit. The safest approach is to not let anything get to melee range. It is rumored to require 500 evasion to avoid getting hit without retreating. But make sure your stance is set up for evasion.
#*There are random stuns in this area that may drag you off to another room or knock you to the ground. BE CAREFUL!
#*RECOMMENDATION: If you have Harm Horde, try to group up multiple bony fylgja in one room and kill them together to save time.
# Once you place all the triptychs, a nebulous rift will open randomly. Go into the nebulous rift.
#*The rift jumps around the area. If you are having trouble finding it stand in the center room and wait for it to come to you.
# A long sequence will happen. Go to the lake, put the phoenix on the monolith, and study it. It will take a while, but keep going. Once you do that, another long sequence, you'll die, and be reborn. Congratulations, the spell is yours.
#*You will use one favor whenever Murrula's Flames triggers, including this first time.

RTOC
Sigil harvesting is the process of collecting primary and secondary sigil scrolls for use in the Enchanting system.

Sigil harvesting is a room based system like the other harvesting mechanics. Unlike other systems however, each sigil "harvest" is associated with the character, not the room itself. This means that 2 (or more) people can scribe a scroll from the same room at the same time. The cooldown timer for that room is then tied to the character, and sigils can continue to be scribed by additional characters.

Each room will contain a primary and secondary sigil determined by its mana concentration, urban level and season. There is no innate randomness to the system, and PERCEIVE SIGIL DISTORT will allow you some control (particularly if you are a Ranger and don’t wish to go into town).

Unlike traditional materials, Sigils do not have a rarity. Instead, they have a clarity (quality) and precision (hardness) that determine how well an enchantment turns out. PERCEIVE SIGIL IMPROVE allows you to play a small minigame in hopes of improving a sigil’s stats prior to scribing it. Though for some this may prove too cumbersome, so you’ll still occasionally crit high quality/precise sigils just out of nowhere. And sigils allow you to scribe them multiple times to keep the grind down a bit. Finally, sigil books let you store and filter your sigils to keep inventory counts manageable.

Technique bonuses and the PERCEIVE SIGIL BONUS and DANGER commands are currently turned off to capture some base statistics, but will be turned on sometime after the wide release of the system.

Arcana, Outdoorsmanship & Scholarship are learned when perceiving for and scribing sigils. Each room has a short timer on it between sigil collection availability.

Tools
* burin - used for scribing a sigil onto a scroll or item
** While these can be crafted by Engineers they must be Enchanted before they can be used for harvesting.
* i - used to hold a sigil
* (optional) sigil book - used to hold sigil-scrolls and reduce item count

Basics
It is helpful to purchase an Artificing book and read the 1st page of the 1st chapter to familiarize yourself with the process.

Begin by doing a PERCEIVE SIGIL in the room you want to check. If the area has a possible sigil, you will receive a message that you are beginning your search. Once that roundtime is done, continue to PERCEIVE SIGIL until you receive a message of success for your primary sigil.

Once you have found your 1st sigil, hold a burin and a blank scroll, and SCRIBE SIGIL to collect it. Additionally, you can continue to PERCEIVE SIGIL until you see a 2nd success message for a secondary sigil and SCRIBE SIGIL to collect it.
* note: During testing, danger events have been turned off for collection, however on or after wide release, the secondary sigils will have an increased difficulty and danger factor.

After identifying a sigil, you can PERC SIGIL INFO to see the statistics on the sigil you've found. An example of this output is:
* You have perceived a flawless (96) permutation sigil comprised of broad strokes (8) in the area. You are unable to perceive any opportunities for improving the sigil.

After identifying either the primary or secondary sigil, you can PERCEIVE SIGIL IMPROVE to attempt to improve the quality of the sigil or scribe multiple copies of the sigil. If you SCRIBE or IMPROVE after the 1st sigil identification, you will not be able to PERCEIVE for a secondary sigil. You will receive a summary of the current sigil you have identified, an overview of your current mental health and a series of randomized commands you can use to improve the quality. An example of this output is:

You have perceived a flawless (98) nurture sigil comprised of broad strokes (9) in the area.
Patiently, you continue to observe the environment to draw out more precise traits. Your perceptions reveal several interesting opportunities, including...

...a difficult, sanity destroying TECHNIQUE for recovering your focus
...a straightforward, sanity destroying PROCESS to elevate the sigil precision.
...a challenging, focus disrupting EFFORT for enhancing the sigil quality.
...a trivial, sanity destroying APPROACH to elevate the sigil quality.
...a challenging, resolve taxing METHOD for improving the sigil precision.
...a formidable, focus disrupting RITUAL for enhancing the sigil precision.
...a challenging, sanity destroying TASK for recovering your resolve.
...a means to DISTORT the sigil's foundation.

You also take the opportunity to take stock of your mental health.

Danger: --------------------
Sanity: ***************-----
Resolve: ***************-----
Focus: ***************-----

Once you have begun improving your sigil, you can complete as many commands as you'd like so long as you have enough Sanity, Resolve & Focus. You can PERCEIVE SIGIL IMPROVE repeatedly to refresh the possible list of commands and actions that will happen. Each command will increase the Danger level however, and on a failure, you can lose the sigil entirely with no option for scribing. Your mental health stats are localized to each sigil gathering event and will re-set each time you attempt to IMPROVE a new sigil.

PERCEIVE SIGIL DISTORT will allow you to change the type of sigil completely, and the new type.

Sigil Improve Costs
Trivial - (Cost ~1-2) (Reward ~ )

Straightforward - (~2-3) (Reward ~3-6 )

Formidable - (~4-5) (Reward ~4-9 )

Difficult - (~6-8) (Reward ~12-15 )

Challenging - (~5-9+) (Reward ~6- 14)

Sigil Quality
Gathered sigils will have 2 material statistics, clarity (quality) and precision (hardness).

The clarity is similar to other material qualities, where the closer to 100 the sigil is, the better the sigil. There are specific terms associated in the end result of the sigil associated with the numeric quality of the sigil.
* note: The below table needs values confirmed as more data is gathered from the system
The sigils can be found in various places across the realms determined by the room's mana concentration, urban level (city or rural) and season. Preliminary results suggest that the same pair of sigils, per room, in the Spring and Autumn are the same. Summer has a different pair per-room. Winter to be determined.

Locations
The sigils can be found in various places across the realms determined by the room's mana concentration, urban level (city or rural) and season. Preliminary results suggest that the same pair of sigils, per room, in the Spring and Autumn are the same. Summer has a different pair per-room. Winter to be determined.

The following list may be helpful in determining the general locations to look for your desired sigil. Specific locations can be found on each individual sigil page.
* A hefty requirement of around 250 "blended" or "average" of your Holy Magic and Targeted Magic.
:(213 TM and 329 holy magic failed, may have a minimum TM rank as well as the blended average.)
:(230 TM (with align) and 340 holy magic succeeded.)
:(216 TM and 293 holy magic succeeded. I did have targeted mastery, and TM alignment.)
:(200 TM and 361 holy magic succeeded. I did have targeted mastery, and TM aligned to Ushnish.)
:(214 TM and 314 holy magic succeeded. I did have targeted mastery, and TM aligned to Ushnish.)
:(200 TM and 310 holy magic succeeded. I did have targeted mastery, and TM aligned to Botolf. [target & util])
* The Fists of Faenella or Horn of the Black Unicorn spell.
* Several Mobar blood I'd bring at least a few of these. You can cut down on the number needed by making sure you're using the crevasse with the correct coloring (see below) but there's still a bit of a random component.

Note: I was able to learn the spell as soon as I could get 30 mana on discern for FF at 214TM/310PM
:The Fists of Faenella spell creates globes of holy energy that are then hurled at a single foe. An ethereal candle burns within each globe, blessing it with the divine fire of the goddess.

:The spell requires at minimum 2 mana streams and you think you can reinforce it with 28 more, for a total of 30 streams.

Note: When Magic 3.0 appeared the requirement was still around 250 "average" of Holy Magic and Targeted Magic but you had to have at least 200 in Targeted Magic. Sometime during the Magic 3.1 changes this changed to needing 250 TM and 300 "average" of your Holy Magic and Targeted Magic. In addition, you must account for the Immortal you align to. I have taken 5 clerics through this quest since Magic 3.0. The last one had 234 TM and 398 Holy magic. When she went through it she failed. The problem is she was aligned to Peri'el which boosts Augmenation and Warding skills but not TM, Debilitation, or Utility. According to the alignment information the Immortal you align to boosts two skills by 15% and lowers the other three by 15%. So in essence she had a 15% lowering of her TM skill to 199 (234 - (234 x .15)). This basically lowered her average to 597/2 = 298. To confirm this she picked up Targeted Mastery which is supposed to boost your targeted skill (Provides a bonus to Targeted Magic skill thereby raising personal mana cap for Targeted Magic spells.), this bonus is probably anywhere from 10% to 15%, so it should bring it back up over 200 to around 228 or close to it. This would fix the average but still have TM below 250. Doing this she failed again. Then we changed the alignment to a TM immortal. This should boost the basic TM of 234 by 15% to around 269 and get some more boost from the Target Mastery feat. Doing this she completed the quest as this got her over 250 TM and 300 "Average". So alignment makes a huge difference here.

Note: You need to bring a number of Mobar Blood's for this quest. It appears you can no longer identify what the color of the lava in the crevasse is so you just have to try it. In every case we tend to see this:
In the crevasse you see vortices of boiling polychromous lava, containing streaks of reds and yellows as well as whites and blacks. The streaks do not appear to mix; instead they wheel about each other ceaselessly like liquid snakes.
The lava appears shimmering and nearly translucent.
You must PUT BLOOD IN CREVASSE to view the colors on the magma viper, now.

Walkthrough
NOTE: THIS QUEST IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE ATTEMPTING AS SOON AS IT'S AVAILABLE. (Creatures range between the 140 - 350 mark for combative skills)
# Start out by asking any of the cleric guildleaders about the Fire of Ushnish spell (ASK LEADER ABOUT FOU SPELL)
# So head up to the Gate of Souls, just south of the ferry to Riverhaven (see RanikMap14)
# Go to the area marked 'to Gate of Souls' and PUSH the BOULDER. In order to completely push the boulder, you cannot move or perform any action, or even retreat or you will stop pushing the boulder.
#:There's a strength check for the boulder so if you can't completely move it out of the way, cast Benediction.
#:KNEEL and GO TUNNEL will take you to RanikMap14a
# Make your way to the room labeled the Oracle Chamber where you will find a mysterious, glowing cone.
#: STUDY CONE to learn a prayer. NOTE: Doing this starts a hidden timer for you to do the following steps. Upon your return to this room, if you cannot PRAY USHNISH in step 8, STUDY CONE again and proceed). You are memorizing the ushnish spell here when studying the cone. The memorization lasts a short while, and you will receive the message: The oracular prayer to Ushnish slips from your grasp., when you can no longer remember it.
# Now we have to find a place for our offering. So head further into the southern Temple, and CLIMB CLIFF into the Fangs of Ushnish.
# Search around the Fangs of Ushnish for a volcanic crevasse. The crevasse moves around from time to time, so search every room in there until you find it.
#:NOTE: The entire area here will shift periodically, changing all the rooms.
# Once you find the crevasse, you'll need to PUT BLOOD IN CREVASSE and wait for the Magma viper to appear. The color of the viper in the crevasse you're looking for depends on your last favor. You'll need either Black (dark aspect), silver-grey (neutral aspect), blue-white (positive aspect), or white (if your last favor was from the non-39). If it's the wrong color wait for it to change rooms. NOTE: if you leave the room, the crevasse will change locations faster than when you stand in the room and wait.
# I haven't noticed this to actually be the case. It appears to take the same time regardless of staying in the room or leaving it. One benefit of staying in the room is that creatures will not enter there, it's a safe-room of sorts until it respawns.
#: You'll also see other colors, such as plain white, translucent, etc.
# A magma viper should appear. If it doesn't appear after a few seconds try again. Once it does STUDY CREVASSE. If you're getting a message that it's too convoluted you don't have enough skill in Holy Magic (PM skill). Try again when you have more. If you're getting a message saying it's too dark/light/vague for your eyes it's the wrong color. Wait for it to move and try again.
# Head back to the Oracle's Chamber, KNEEL, and PRAY USHNISH - if you get the message "A sudden, eerie trepidation freezes the words of the prayer in your mouth." then you need more devotion to finish. There's an altar to the se of this room. You need at least 8/16 devotion to succeed.
#: NOTE: If you get the standard PRAY USHNISH messaging, with the standard 5-10 second roundtime, you'll need to STUDY CONE again first before proceeding.
# Congratulations, you now know the Fire of Ushnish spell!

Hospitals are found in each of the provinces. While associated with the Empath Guild, the distinction is that each hospital will be staffed with an NPC Empath available to heal at all times. These Empaths will charge a fee for healing. If you do not have the coin on your person, a debt will be applied for the local province. All the various Empaths will heal major trauma, however each healer may not heal all wounds.
Use of healing herbs or remedies to heal your wounds will cause NPC Empaths to ignore any remaining wounds or scars on body parts affected by those herbs and remedies. You'll need to either accrue visible wounds on top of those existing wounds ignored by the autopath and revisit the NPC Empath, or seek out a PC Empath or utilize remedies that will fully heal the remaining wounds or scars.

Adventurers in Crossing and Riverhaven can use the DIR hospital command for step by step directions to the nearest hospital.

Use
With most of the hospitals, in order to activate the Empath's healing, LIE DOWN or FALL. A few of the newer hospitals have a LIST you can JOIN. You will then start receiving messages such as:
:Elys approaches you and touches you.
:Your nervous system tingles for a moment, then suddenly feels a bit better. Elys looks a bit pale.
:[9 Dokoras are taken from you.]
:Roundtime: 1 seconds.
