Various shops and NPCs may allow you to acquire the ability to cast using many different types of spell preparations. Some can be acquired through guild sects, others as a premium perk, or some simply just for coin. Most (if not all) of these preparations require a Magic Feat to use, and your character may only have up to 3 special preparations at a time. Listed below are the different types of special preparations along with their requirements and/or advantages. See the [[Prepare command|<tt>PREPARE</tt> command]] for more information on changing your active spell preparation.

*Note: With the release of DragonRealms 3.0 it is necessary to learn [[Magic Feats]] to learn additional spell preparations.

==Basic Preparations==
