Happy Tuesday, adventurers!

This week, Paklin is wearing an old hat and revisited the foraging system to add new items! We're starting small (hah!) this week with only 18 new things for you to forage! Let's talk about that real quick.

The foraging system is incredibly complex! Each item has a base difficulty and a base rarity. Most of these new items have a higher base difficulty than dioica sap -- a couple of them are nearly double, but that can be misleading! Several also have rarity ratings higher than other things in the system. There are many considerations that go into how difficult an item is, though. Weather conditions, which moons are up, time of the year (season), the environmental settings of the area, armor, and so much more all affect the final score for how difficult an item is. Because of all that, it's not always easy to say "X is better than Y".

That said, in testing the new items, I was pretty consistently able to see better performance at higher skill with these new items in the right conditions. There's going to be some scouting needed to find them all (hint: Halfling spots may be special!). Here's a list of the newly added stuff sorted by their base difficulty, with dioica sap thrown in for reference:

white carrot
cocoon
beetroot
dioica sap (old news!)
blue larkspur
wine cork
white clover
white larkspur
grapefruit
boar-bristle blade
wild berries
red clover
purple larkspur
runestone fragment
pink larkspur
pink clover
flint (it works to light torches and stuff with!)
yellow larkspur
four-leafed clover (the old clover became just plain clover)

These new items are a trial run to see how they help and what other dials we may need to look at for future additions. Kudos to Paklin for relearning the system enough to get these in!

Go forth and start foraging and let us know how it feels! We know it may not solve the concerns at the higher levels, but this is a start to help out!
