Tuesday Tidings - 100 - Let's Celebrate the Harvest · on 01/18/2022 19:29 1917
Happy Tuesday, folks!

This one is special to me (aside from it being the 100th consecutive weekly project!), and it was a team effort to make it happen, and we're doing something special with the intro run of it! Lots to say, here come some words!

I've always loved seeing players take note of the in-game holidays and celebrating them in their own ways. Way back in 2007, during one of the Platinum promos, GMs Reexa, Ilanya, Maece and possibly others created a handful of harvest-themed shops and ran what they called the Taffelberry Faire in Arthe Dale as a Plat-only fest for the promo. When Reexa left staff, she left those merchants in my care, and I've been sitting on them all these years wanting to make the Taffelberry Faire an automated thing -- like the Town Green pond freezing in the winter and thawing in the spring. At long last, this has happened, and those shops get to be seen again!

Forever more, the Taffelberry Faire will happen automatically from in-game days 311-316 (normally 312-315, but this extends it a little more RL time so folks have a better chance of seeing it). You can access it via the new road on the Arthe Dale Greensward. For this initial run, because it's TT100, we opened it early (it's only like 268 currently!), and it will run through 316 as intended, which is Sunday January 30th I believe. We may add more merchants to it in the future, but it's meant to be something small in a Halfling community for those celebrating the harvest and the Holy Week of Glythtide. It's not ever meant to be on the scale of HE or GF, but it's a space you guys can plan events in (when it's open) -- there's seating that'd be perfect for telling stories and sharing smoke images, a bucket of gloop, a critter-catch game(!), lots of food and drinks and more!

On shops -- the siegery shop is only available for this special/extended first run. It has ties to (somewhat) recent events and was commissioned by a certain Halfling NPC. If you're at all interested in siegery, it's worth checking out, because it isn't planned to return to future runs of Taffelberry Faire!

For shout outs, I want to thank the original shop makers again -- Reexa, Ilanya and Maece were powerhouses of creativity, and I'm glad this piece of things they worked on gets to be released again. Irenos and Ynami did big work on the siegery shop and its QC. Big thanks to Ulerith for creating the area for the merchants to populate. Ulerith and Tullie created over 50 prizes for the origami catching game. And speaking of that -- big shout out to Paklin for making a way to automate those critter catch games! The origami game will happen automatically for 15-30 minutes every 1-3 hours, randomly, for as long as the Faire is accessible! Keep an eye out for the origami! Koror added special touches to the gathering spot in Taffelberry Hall (food and fire and more!)! I'm probably forgetting someone, and I'm sorry if so! There really were a lot of hands contributing to this one to bring all the pieces together, and I'm glad you all get to play with it going forward!

I mentioned it on the Discord -- I know there's been a group of players celebrating some of the in-game holidays the past few years. We didn't reach out before the release because we didn't want to tip our hand, but we're certainly interested in ideas and suggestions for future updates to this area to help the holiday feel alive, and possibly other in-game holidays too! These are big projects for strike team, so I can't make any promises, but if you have ideas, please feel free to post them here on the forums or in the #worlds channel of the official Discord for us to look into down the line!

TTs continue next week with 101! Can't stop, won't stop!
